$950 for a camera handle

>$950 for a camera handle

Where is your outrage? Where are the endless 'tech' articles making fun of it? Where are the memes?

because no one cares, RED is far from (((consumer))) grade

This shit is for studios with film budgets

bandwagon effect
normies gonna normie

No one complains cuz its mainly big fimling Co who buy it and odds are the people that buy them arnt the ones actually paying for them. Most the time its a tax right off anyway(also you can claim a pretty high depreciation too) so even more reason Co. are more willing to pay for it without question

Hmm...
>literally who selling something to... someone? maybe?
vs
>mainstream trendy company (not to mention one of the largest in the entire world) marketing towards mass market consumers
Hmm... Well I'm stumped. I can't find any appreciable difference between the two. Anti-Apple shills eternally btfo!

Mac Pro monitors are far from consumer grade lmao

Literally everything you said is also true of the Mac Pro/monitors in 2019.

At least it has a button

>electronic device with buttons and functions
>aimed towards movie studios and shit
>very low sales volumes demand very high profit margin to cover development
>Still costs less than an Apple's mass produced solid hunk of aluminium

LOL

>Mac Pro monitors are far from consumer grade lmao
you're missing the point, Apple creates consumer products with a few high-end models. RED solely sells products for professionals, it's even in their tag line.

Cause this board is full of tech posers that only use computers for continually switching Linux distros every couple months

This why the new black magic camera is sold out everywhere.

Only rental houses typically buy that shit and they make that back easily over the lifetime it's offered.

This

>Mac Pro monitors are far from consumer grade lmao

call me when they actually reach eizo on image quality

>
>Mac Pro monitors are far from consumer grade lmao
AHHHAHAHAHAAHAS COPE HARDER YOU FUCKING SHILL

>spend $60000 on one scene for movie / tv show
>complains about $950 handle

Attached: 1527803843100.png (179x179, 53K)

No they don't, they rent them. Only shit that airs literally every single week bare minimum buy equipment. See:

No, you're missing the point. The new monitor is not a consumer product, nor was it ever marketed, designed or intended to be one. You know this, which is why you're trying to move the goal posts.

>bashes apple stand
>defends 6inch handle

Guess what bigger companies don't care about additional cost of the apple stand too

>12k+ mac pro with monitor is consumer grade

kek

Red are Leica of film, we know they are over priced only because of their name. We make fun of people who buy red and Leica on /p/ as we are at people who buy apple on Jow Forums

>apple
>price being remotely related to quality/performance

That's still more useful than a 1k stand

>professional equipment is expensive
wooooow

this

you think RED's $1000 camera handle is related to quality/performance?

We already make fun of RED for their ludicrous prices.

if literally not for it being applel
people will sue it for fraud

>RED
>literally who

It's not a slab of aluminum

>Comparing a fucking $30 aluminium stand to a professional device with an specific function
Supply and demand, faggot. This is a very niche product that not many companies produce and clients are willing to pay that amount for.

Its a consumer product marketed to ((professionals)), its crap.

what's the thinkbook of /p/?

Imagine being this butthurt that people are mocking a retarded business decision.

RED isn't a tech giant, and they never had someone stand on a stage with the price displayed in giant text behind them.

>"electronic device"
>"with a button"

This board is actually defending a $950 dollar HANDLE that cost 10% of what the Pro Display stand cost to make. The Pro Display stand is being sold at like 20x markup, whereas this is closer to 50x. That stand is actually decent, has some engineering in it and is tool-less, magnetic. The RED thing is just a handle with a red button.

You've just defended a $950 camera handle made of plastic/aluminum. A $5000 monitor made to sustain 1000 nits and phase out $20,000 reference monitors in production studios isn't consumer grade, how much of a spastic moron do you have to be to think something like that is consumer grade?

When its released, DisplayMate will test it, they'll probably say its the all round best monitor ever made for professional use. You're an idiot who can't even read a spec sheet.

A normie has just defended a $950 door handle.

Literally incorrect. You've just defended a $950 door handle.

Its a mold of plastic, or a metal pipe with rubber. Congratulations on joining the $950 handle club.

You too have earned a free year's pass to the tard society. If the package cost $6000 and made no mention of a spare stand no one would say a thing.

This board will always hate Apple just because. I can't even see why, autism maybe. RED is selling a $950 sawn off bike handle and nobody seems to be bothered whatsoever. You're all a bunch of cognitive dissonance cuckolds.

whataboutism

That handle has blatant satanic symbolism on it for no reason other than to stroke the (((designers))) ego. They are overcharging by a factor of 10....so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

this

didn't even address that it's more than a hunk of aluminum smfh

>If the package cost $6000 and made no mention of a spare stand no one would say a thing.
because nobody would EVER assume the stand contributed that much to the cost

You can spec out a HP workstation that costs 70K and they obviously create consumer products.

Tech nigger actually accounts for 50% of RED's annual sales

Are you referring to the satanic symbol that's also on the American flag, a letter of the Greek alphabet, or the spooky skull?

>When its released, DisplayMate will test it, they'll probably say its the all round best monitor ever made for professional use. You're an idiot who can't even read a spec sheet.

cool because the last shit apple released wasnt even close to the spec sheet
because you know apple ALWAYS lie

>not buying Blackmagic cams for far less
Do you even cine?
>1k for a handle is a drop in the bucket for pro DPs

go get a Dell Ultrasharp then. better specs, still cheaper, comes with a stand!

>Red camera for youtuber, shitties movie for TV or festivals, porn movies
Real oscar aware use Alexa or few Sony cams.

oh no he's defending a $1000 monitor stand, ahahahahaha

poorfags BTFO

>all this effort
i hope apple is paying you, i really do. your defense of their business practices is an eerily accurate metaphor for their sales practices.
>i dun understand y ppl no like something
with apple it's pretty simple. most of what apple sells can be purchased much cheaper for a higher performance from another brand. this leads to the obvious connection that people who buy apple are either too stupid to know this, or are buying it for the brand (which is perhaps only very slightly less stupid- and is certainly more representative of npc normie behavior).

i dont know why people are defending this camera doodad. i also don't care. the apple train wreck is way more fun.

>can be purchased much cheaper for a higher performance from another brand
Show a screen like theirs.

No. The upside down star they like to use for their kind to identify each other on the button.

It is actually functional, and not just a piece of pretentious aluminium.

if it was shown at the big stage of Sony presentation there would be

It's basically the same deal. You could argue that the stand is more essential to the product, if you don't use it you'll have to buy the 200$ adapter anyway.

Compared to Apple, absolutely. Pull someone off the street and they'll have no clue that Red even exists, but they will know Apple. It serves to demonstrate how the target markets for these companies are so different - it's like comparing Apples and oranges.

I bet you plebs don't know who Honeywell are either.
Doesn't mean their products aren't important.

In fact they are a lot more important than those toys.

Red is the apple of cinematography

Is Honeywell that boiler conpany? I'm sure I had one of their boiler things in our house

"Pro" level shit is always expensive. Keeps the casuals out of their industry.

You're comparing Apple of the PC industry to Apple of the camera industry. There are several equal quality, 1/8th the price alternatives to REDs and everyone who actually uses this equipment knows that. Dealing with their service and support is terrible, their storage is insanely priced, even on a rental scheme the cost of their equipment is retarded and no studio wants to foot the bill unless they absolutely have to (Director demanding 8K for some scenes is a common reason you'll want to use a RED).

There's a reason that even on the biggest of the biggest budget films you will rarely see a RED in their technical equipment page, case in point:

imdb.com/title/tt4154796/technical
imdb.com/title/tt6565702/technical
imdb.com/title/tt3741700/technical
imdb.com/title/tt6139732/technical
imdb.com/title/tt4881806/technical

All largest blockbusters from the past year with budgets ranging from $170-400 million dollars, not a single RED in sight.

hey op i spent 950 dollars on a tripod and another 500 dollars on a ball head, stop being poor

i spent 50 on mine. stop being retarded.

>(Citation needed)

Because no one gives a shit.

Macs are for pro wannabes

RED is a completely different beast altogether.

Their cameras are priced like cars.

Attached: 1555732497323.jpg (3840x2160, 1.12M)

your tripod and head is a piece of shit

because its a camera not a computer, stupid. go to any other forum dedicated to cameras, or even /p/ and you will find endless threads about this piece of shit company.

>creator of Oakley sunglasses decides to make cameras
Gee, I wonder why they are over-priced while also complete shit.

>$950 accessory to a $14,500 - $55,500 camera
>$999 accessory to a $4,999 display

The ratios seem to make a difference. The handle is between 1.7-6.6% of the price of the camera, while the stand is around 16.7-20% of the price of the monitor. Notice that nobody gasped at the $199 adapter, which would be between 3.3-4% of the price of the screen.

that's pro gear
