Want help? >State the budget & CURRENCY >List your uses e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work >For monitors include purpose & graphics pairing >NO Speccy or "bottleneck checkers"
CPUs >Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming >R3 2200G - Light 30-60fps gaming(dGPU optional). 2400G if you want a CPU which can last into a GPU upgrade > i7 9600K - Good 60fps+ gaming & multithreaded use > i7 9700K - Best for gaming, launching >i9 9900K - Budget HEDT or gaming+streaming on a single PC, launching in July >I9 7980XE - HEDT
>Intel CPUs are now defunct. Even used i7 workstations are no longer worthwhile due to vulnerabilities and performance regression >B550 boards will likely launch in August
RAM >NEVER use only a single stick >8GB - very light use, and/or if you don't mind closing programs regularly >16GB - standard amount. If you have to ask if you need more, you don't >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2800MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" link for true latency formula
Graphics cards 1080p >RX 570/580 - value. >1660 - Slightly better perf for more demanding games on high/maxed 60fps+ > 1660Ti / Vega56 - higher framerates 1440p (WQHD) >used 1070Ti / Vega - 60-120fps+ in most games on high/maxed >Above Vega offers progressively poorer and poorer value. Wait for the RX 5000 series 2160p (4k) >Wait for better priced GPUs. 2080Ti is only 1.85x the performance for 4x the cost of a $300 GPU, and still only does 30fps in many games.
>RX 5700 series is launching in July. Nvidia Super may be as well. Wait for independent benchmarks if considering a >$300 GPU
Other >Always avoid AMD if gaming >Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD >M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard >PLAN BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
Fuck it this is my pc for the next 5+ years, will be used to stream and play WoW classic at 1440p 144hz (if the 5700xt is more than £350 i'll get an rtx meme)
Btw does anyone happen to know if the UK followed the US prices 1:1 with the last ryzen drop?
Ok, what's the best pc I can build on a $500 to $600 budget (with an ssd and 16gb ram)? I'll only be using it for gaming and schoolwork and hope to be able to play on medium to high settings, 1080p, 60fps. I can wait for sales, if that helps.

>2700X >manual OC 4.2GHZ @1.35V >Enable PBO >it's 4ghz with 4.15 on two cores >Voltage is between 1.45 to 1.56 What the actual fuck? >Vega 64 >default voltage is 1.2V, actually runs faster @ 1V >default memory clocks are 800mhz, gets a MASSIVE boost from raising it to 1.1ghz
What the actual fuck is wrong with AMDs defaults? They even clain to have smart adaptive shit and all but holy shit that's ridiculous.
