Gimme that and I'm going to switch to tablet as main PC so hard.

Proper mouse support? Shit.
Better cursor for mouse? There is hope at least...

I'm hoping for more desktop/power features because at this point iPads are the only viable tablets.
Android for tablets is abandonware, and the same for the apps and hardware.

>Surfaces are the only viable tablets.
Fixed.
iPads are unusable shit and lose half their performance every year from Apple malware.

>Surfaces are the only viable tablets.
Completely delusional. The Windows UI is an abomination when it comes to tablets. It takes much more than slapping a touchscreen and touch support on a desktop system to call it a tablet.
There's a reason Windows tablets have been FAILING continuously since the late '90s.

Dude you sure seem obsessed with indians, have they fucked your wife or something?

Why don't they just start shipping them with OS X? All their shit is so fragmented already in hardware and software

Err it's fine. What's bad about it in your experience?

Part of me wants to say external display support and a desktop mode with better mouse and keyboard implementation. But would that cannibalise Macs too much?

The hardware is perfectly capable of it after all. I'd love to try the mouse with Steam Streaming desu.

Yes?
iOS and iPad exist because Jobs want a something to compete with Windows tablets but later realized the OS would work on a phone and prioritized the iPhone project.
iPad Pro exist because they saw the potential when all the artcucks suddenly want a Surface.

Back to your containment board manchild.

Attached: 1534062174622.png (400x1650, 367K)

Why do iPads still exist and not some Surface clone under the MacBook umbrella? We all know Apple wants to move to ARM for everything anyways, and there’s no reason to deal with a sandboxed meme OS.

Maybe if Apple want iPad OS to be a bit less locked down in this manner we'll see some of those locks being loosened.

They can afford to experiment with iPad since no ones expects a Mac experience. It's pretty tricky to get it right as seen by MS struggles with Surface (which only became somewhat usable at gen 4) and attempts like the SurfaceBook.

It's not like they just put MacOS on a touchscreen, it needs an UI between MacOS and iOS; and obviously they would prefer to keep it more locked down since they make insane money from the app store, but if they go with that approach, they still need to expand the capabilities of iOS massively. iPad OS is a pretty good although conservative call.

iPads are unusable shitheaps. Literally good for nothing except Youtube.

Have a last (you) before you fuck off back to /v/

They're going to experiment with it all the way to ARM-powered notebooks. It's nearly an ARM-powered notebook, even. While there's been heavy investment in OS X, it will need to be replaced eventually, and they could probably strap in the filesystem and other features going forward while removing the legacy cruft.

Have a last (you) before you fuck off back to /lgbt/

I wish they would hurry the fuck up already. Intel crippled their progress with Macbooks a lot and doesn't look like making any big steps forward anytime soon, while they have their own great chip and don't do much with it. All the iPad OS changes are just fixing the obvious flaws in iOS12, so it'll take at least one more year for anything that's really worthwhile and the poor A13X that'll probably run circles around i9 will be held down by this shit. Unless they do something really COURAGEOUS like a 12" ARM MB this fall.

Imagine being a delusional itoddler actually believing Applel's CPOOU can even begin to compare to desktop CPUs.

It's a tablet, not a laptop. Stop trying to contort it into something that it's not. Adding all these things only crowds the interface and convolutes its purpose.
I'm already disappointed that they even added physical keyboard support in the first place.

True. Subscription-based software is cancer.

>It's a tablet, not a laptop.
That's not how the iPad Pro is marketed. It's supposed to replace a laptop according to Applel, so it's not like I came up with this shit myself.
>Adding all these things only crowds the interface and convolutes its purpose.
It wouldn't change a thing in tablet mode.
>Why would you want that?
It's way too fucking large using up valuable spaces. They already did some clever things like allowing you to shrink the keyboard for single hand use. Why not add smaller modes for people who don't have butterfingers. It's fucking Apple, so it's not like I expect customisation, something like they got on Macbooks for resolution would do fine.

It's all about the result.
youtube.com/watch?v=-ZpsliNmJLo
Apparently it's pretty much real-time exporting for 4K video with LumaFusion too. So at the very worst, very respectable for a passively cooled CPU.

I fucking wish. The current one is SO DAMN close to what I want, I could even ignore Windows but their pen is pure ass and the bezels are too fat. (Also the trackpad is way too small on the cover)

Oh and the fucking cover moves when you're typing, it'll probably trigger me too much.
I'd like a solution closer to Surfacebook (Brydge tried something similar for the iPad Pro but that shit makes the screen move when typing)

>That's not how the iPad Pro is marketed. It's supposed to replace a laptop according to Applel,
It's marketed as a tablet powerful enough to replace a laptop.
>It wouldn't change a thing in tablet mode.
Yes, it absolutely would and already has. The keyboard gives developers the ability to embed functions within their apps that can ONLY be accessed via the Smart Keyboard shortcuts and not by any onscreen icons. So now you've lost some functionality on the iPad as a tablet because the Smart Keyboard exists. If they hadn't introduced a Smart Keyboard in the first place, devs would be forced to make everything touch friendly (which makes sense on a tablet, doesn't it?).
I would imagine that adding full mouse/trackpad support would only further those issues (a la options that are only available via right click.)
>It's way too fucking large using up valuable spaces.
People don't like poking at tiny onscreen buttons. That's literally the entire reason the iPhone and later iPad was invented in the first place. It hasn't gotten in the way thus far and I don't expect them to change it now.

There is only so much you can accomplish with fingers.

>That's literally the entire reason the iPhone and later iPad was invented in the first place.
iPhone has a small screen that is operated by your thumbs. Not quite the same thing. Jobs was triggered by styluses too and look what happened.

Please do tell us more about your first hand experience in gay porn production.

>With iPad, you get what you need from a computer, along with many incredible things you’d never expect from one.
Why would you bother including this quote?
Tablets and laptops are both types of computers.
>There is only so much you can accomplish with fingers.
This is where we disagree on a fundamental level. I think if you design the interface correctly, you can allow the user to do absolutely anything on a tablet that they would do elsewhere.
>Wouldn't hold do the trick?
Most of the time, sure, but not in all situations no.
>iPhone has a small screen that is operated by your thumbs. Not quite the same thing.
Literally the same thing. The only difference is that the iPad has the bigger screen. They're both operated by fingers and should both be treated that way.
>Jobs was triggered by styluses too and look what happened.
Christ, this again. He was triggered by styluses being necessary just to use the thing more than for things like writing and drawing. He would've been fine with the Apple Pencil.

English motherfucker, do you speak it?
You're arguing that hardware acceleration is bad, while all processors (x86, arm, power) are chockfull of hardware accelerators for crypto, encoding/decoding, etc etc. . And all pros use expensive as fuck asics to speed up their workflows.

Why are you so triggered? Because the apple chip has extensive acceleration for things people actually do, like 4k rendering and editing?

>Let me know when your literal toy can handle a real editing suite.
It already has pro suites, including a full blown Photoshop version in the making if Affinity Photo/Designer is not enough for you. You'll eat your words when adobe announces Premiere for the iPad, nigger.

>Tablets and laptops are both types of computers.
And when you add a keyboard to yours, it's not a crazy expectation that it's comfortably usable. Apple mocked the idea of touchscreen laptops but that's exactly how fucked the users of the type cover are without a trackpad.
>you can allow the user to do absolutely anything on a tablet that they would do elsewhere
Things that need precision will at least require one more extra step. And take their take on copy/pasta ... it's clever and seems workable but still nowhere near as fast as the real deal with shortcuts. Your attitude towards a finger and touch centric device makes sense on the normal iPads but the Pro's would be just too gimped by it.
>They're both operated by fingers and should both be treated that way.
By different fingers and different amount of fingers, which allows a different degree in precision and control. A lot of the stuff that works intuitive on the iPad would feel stupid as fuck on a phone screen.

t. SEETHING itoddler
No one gives a shit your manchild fruit toy has acceleration for a useless app no one uses. Let me see how well it renders in Premiere with hardware acceleration. Oh, it doesn't have hardware acceleration, it doesn't even have Premiere. Cope more.

Isn't the whole point of a tablet to drop the keyboard and mouse? Why add all that stuff back to it? It's basically a laptop at that point. You could just go use a real laptop.

Cope.

B-BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE AVID. APPLE BTFO.

Having the option to do both in one device is pretty nice. And there are a few attempts that got pretty close to the perfect mix.

>You could just go use a real laptop.
There are only so many fanless ones that are up to date.

>Apple mocked the idea of touchscreen laptops but that's exactly how fucked the users of the type cover are without a trackpad.
Which is why I think they shouldn't have even introduced the Smart Keyboard in the first place. Laptops work well because they create a separation between input and output. Touchscreen laptops complicate that separation by putting points of input on both the dedicated input AND output panels, and tablets with a keyboard attached accomplish the same thing with little benefit to either one of them.
If they add a keyboard and trackpad, the entire iPad Pro project becomes useless because they're already selling laptops.
>Things that need precision will at least require one more extra step.
For that, there's the Pencil.
>And take their take on copy/pasta ... it's clever and seems workable but still nowhere near as fast as the real deal with shortcuts.
I dunno. I think the gestures are fine and quite workable. Really don't think anyone's going to care about shaving a few milliseconds off of how fast they can pastepastepaste repeatedly, and even then, spreading your fingers shouldn't take that much longer than spamming cmd-v.

The bottom line here is that Apple is really making a mistake by convoluting the iPad's user interface. They're trying to turn it into a weird hybrid-tablet-laptop Frankenstein's monster when the product would work so much better if they just put more thought into allowing the tablet form factor to develop into something more efficient and powerful.

Well, that ship has sailed a while ago. Plus there is the whole usb c, it just offers too many possibilities not to use them. Shit, forgot the charger in my initial post. That 5 or 7w thing is a joke.
> iPad Pro project becomes useless because they're already selling laptops.
None that can be used as tablets or have the pen input. If anything, it'd affect the low end Macs more than iPads.
>They're trying to turn it into a weird hybrid-tablet-laptop Frankenstein's monster
That would be Surface. iPad is still very much a tablet that prioritises the tablet experience, a few more shortcuts or a trackpad that shares most gestures with iOS either way won't change THAT much.
>when the product would work so much better if they just put more thought into allowing the tablet form factor to develop into something more efficient and powerful.
Like what? I'm definitely not someone who cares primary about the tablet but can't picture what is missing if using it purely as a tablet with a pen for tablet things.
