Should I get an AMP?

no
buy a good pair of powered studio monitors instead
they are like a comfy all in one
also headphones have no soundstage

Do your headphones or speakers require an amp?

If so, yes probably.

Buy an amp that matches your requirements, don't blow $1000+ on an amp for $200 headphones or a couple hundred dollar speaker set.

no, it doesn't do shit but make your headphones louder. only boomers who are losing their hearing use them.

jds atom

they dont do anything besides doing the only thing they do

if headphones are inefficient: yes
otherwise: no

i mean, some headphone types are just not as efficient due to the tech they use.

Planar magnet drivers for example are inherently going to need a lot more power just due to what they are.

Probably yes but depends on your needed.

So far I have gotten away with using a DAC (Asus Essence One MKII) to use with my headphones (HiFiMan HE-400i) and two Active Speakers (Tannoy Reveal 502).

It is excessive but music quality is more than good and have advantage on both fronts depending on my preferences between either headphones or speakers (there are probably better systems, but for me it was worth saving up for).

I have a headset with a shitty mic, would it also amplify the mic?

not even always true: sundara are 16 ohm

usually those headsets have a separate headphone cable and mic cable.

If it is a combined 2 in 1 3.5mm jack, then you'd need to get a splitter to split it into two connections.

A headphone amp would not pass through a microphone signal.

they're 37 ohm.

maybe
depends

the tubes in tube amps don't have a very long life before they start sounding like shit. unless you enjoy having to upgrade tubes once a year, or you purposely want inferior audio quality like for a guitar amp, stick to solid-state amps.

thanks for the correction, my point still stands

my ath-ad700 would like to have a word with you about soundstage

what's the best speakers you've ever heard

only if your phones have an interesting impedance curve

Yes,
BHK Signature 300 Monoblocks.
You need two, one for each speaker.
