problem is that nearly nothing scales with xfire and SLI these days. 99% of the time those other GPUs will sit idle, or worse, offer even worse performance in many games than just a single GPU would give.

the gears are undoubtedly liquid cooled to keep the fucker from going nuclear. And proper plain old high temperature coolant on some type of heat resistant alloy. Not an expert. Although I was reading recently on Jow Forums that the M61 gun generates 5 tons of thrust when fired. A single engine on the A10 warthog only generates 6 tons. So if one engine goes out or is performing properly, just firing the gun throws the entire flight of the plane off.

Paired with my i7-3930k at the time? Was getting along with around 150fps across 3 1080p monitors. The cards were capable of more, but the CPU was having a hard time getting out of their way even overclocked fucking HEAVY.

everyone makes fun of Powercolor as some sort of shit tier off brand, but they're the only ones doing any sort of crazy shit every time. AMD released the R9-295x2 as liquid cooled from the factory on a 120mm radiator because, and I quote, "It wasn't possible/feasible to cool this card on conventional air solutions".

So Powercolor took it, made it air cooled, and even made a completely custom PCB layout (something NO OTHER company did), and then to put the cherry on top, they fucking factory overclocked both GPU's on the card.

Nvidia could have brought us into the new age by giving consumer cards the full NVLink experience instead of SLI but through NVLink. AMD could as well with their own shit but noooo consumers are just meant to get ass raped.

it's more the game developers honestly user. AMD and Nvidia would LOVE to be able to sell double/triple/quadruple their standard amount because of people buying more than one of their cards. But if the game isn't optimized for multi-GPU, it'll run like absolute dog shit. We're talking less than 40fps with massive frame lag/stutter compared to 65fps stable on a single GPU.

This is the equivalent of ugly nigger dwarves smearing shit on their faces and kissing.

The thing is that NVLink and AMD's new shit both let you treat the GPU cluster incredibly differently than before. SLI and Crossfire I can understand, you have to do a lot of retarded divvying up in advance and hoping for the best where you either have to introduce latency or have nowhere near perfect scaling.
New shit you're more able to just treat the GPU cluster as one GPU due to 2-way communication between the cards at an incredibly high bandwidth and the like. It essentially lets you do the latency related solution while introducing jack shit latency.

if the cards are actually being properly utilized (they're not), performance will be fantastic as games have only shown to want more cores/threads on the CPU. However SLI/xfire support was mediocre back in the day for a shit load of titles, let alone today where support has been all but dropped. I was just checking benches of a shit load of games and 2080Ti with NVLink (new SLI) was performing as much as 30fps lower than a single 2080Ti. Even on 4k resolution. And if the average wasn't lower, the fps lows were. Vastly lower.
