I loved Unity and I like the Unity skin for Gnome 3. I don't know why they get such hate. Unity was the reason I picked and stuck with Ubuntu.

Unity is still installable on 18,04 and it's even in the official repositories

Yes, but you should have witnessed what I and the other oldfags witnessed when it was released. People went absolutely apeshit and ranted about how shitty it was constantly. It was even worse than the current state of GNOME hate. Shuttleworth probably developed a complex over the publics reaction to Unity.
