This, everyone knows the quality of an operating system is proportional to the money you put into it.

Linux is a kernel, Bill. You probably meant to say "GNU/Linux operating system".

>RHEL

I use fully free (both free as in freedom and free as free beer) operating system down to firmware level. I can inspect every part of the source code to make sure it doesn't phone home.
Unlike Windows.

let me educate you about gahnoo/linooks

>I eat sushi because I can watch everything prepped in front if me.
>I like to make my own pens because I like to know the build quality and where the ink was sources
>I make my own soap because....

Imagine thinking this way. Unable to just use a tool that's there cause paranoia. You're like the annoying vegan that can't eat food thats been near meat. Like fuck you're this paranoid, but will sleep for 6-8 hours everyday and not know wtf is happening, but that doesnt phase you. Word processing, web browsing, porn and vidya, that's where all the REAL secrets of your success lay.

lol

>not SystemD/Linux
have sex

Imagine eating sushi and the sushi restaurant tries to sue you if you look under the fish.
You really wanna eat that sushi?

Eat KFC without knowing the secret herbs and spices?
When you drink a beer, do you know the full recipe, or how long ago the tap was cleaned?
When you shake a person's hand, do you ask them the last time they wiped their ass or jerked off with it?

Nice, you know that joo cannot into KFC, because they suck dick all the time instead !

I trust it *more* because I don't pay for it.

Someone giving software away for free obviously just wants it to be useful, and therefore presumably cares about its quality. Someone selling software is going to give you what shithead MBAs call a "minimum viable product", the absolute cheapest, quickest, dirtiest piece of shit that they think will entice you to part with your money. QA is expensive, we can't be having a penny more of that than we need, you know!

change religion and put that forescin on your penis back, filthy jew!

Here's some free advice, that's a dumb fucking opinion.

Do you trust me more now?

jokes on you i use zorin

The kernel is the OS.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as The Kernel, is in fact, Linux/The Kernel, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Linux plus The Kernel. The Kernel is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Linux system made useful by the Linux corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the Linux system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Linux which is widely used today is often called "The Kernel", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux Project.

There really is a The Kernel, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. The Kernel is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. The Kernel is normally used in combination with the Linux operating system: the whole system is basically Linux with The Kernel added, or Linux/The Kernel. All the so-called "The Kernel" distributions are really distributions of Linux/The Kernel.

Freetards utterly BTFO

I want to see how the drugs I take to remain healthy are made and handled and that I am not being administered snake oil.

Computers are complex and all sorts of broken just like the drug industry. You have to see what's inside.

Reminder: if you don't pay for it, (you) are the product.

No, because you're wrong.

What if I pay for it and I'm still the product?

>I can inspect every part of the source code
you can, but I guarantee you didn't.

I've found that the opposite is true more often than not. 5 pack of tshirts for $10 or OMG an Under Armor shirt for $40?

>that pic
you bastard

>This, everyone knows the quality of an operating system is inversely proportional to the money you put into it.
FTFY

Nothing's free, but costs have been reduced for which I am appreciative of Linux. And I will never ever trust Microsoft again and their backstabbing, vendor lock-in licensing. And I will never use Windows again. This I vow.

If it costs nothing then it's worthless.

>I can inspect every part of the source code
But did you actually do that? Unless you have then your argument is irrelevant.

>phone home
Firstly there are ways to disable telemetry, if you're really so bothered by it:
blogs.systweak.com/how-to-disable-telemetry-and-data-collection-in-windows-10/
Secondly why the fuck does it matter if Microsoft uses anonymised usage statistics to better fix and improve the operating system and give you better features? Why do you care about this irrelevant shit?

>japanese paedophilic cartoons
Ah you're a weirdo, got it.

FUCKING THIS. And the autists have no arguments so they respond to you with Japanese paedophilic cartoons.

Pottery.

I use Google for free and their product is ad space, not people (and I have an ad blocker so I don't even see their ads).

How can you be this stupid? Do you have a brain injury or something?

It didn't cost your mom anything to get knocked up...

She might even have made money from it...

>believing a company that has admitted to working with the NSA
Fucking retards I swear. Also disabling telemetry is a placebo and nothing is stopping them from re-enabling it/using new ways. They can control your computer.

Not enough for the abortion unfortunately. But like they say, all good things come at a price.

1. Pretty sure the NSA collects information regardless of whether companies wish to comply or not. And of course they collect information from pretty much everywhere on the web.
2. The NSA collects information to stop terrorist attacks. They're not interested in finding naked photos of you and posting them on Facebook, if that's what you're worried about.
3. When has Microsoft remotely controlled users' computers in ways that have seriously materially affected them?

Attached: brainlet3.jpg (208x326, 10K)

. The NSA collects information to stop terrorist attacks.
Really? Because I haven't seen them doing much to interfere with the attacks carried out by the world's largest and most powerful terrorist organization - the US government.

Woah dude that's really deep.

You only hear about the ones they *haven't* stopped, unless there's good reason to publicize.

I've heard some stupid things on Jow Forums before, but this takes the cake.

sorry Bill, but w10 is the most half assed spyware I've seen, it's physically painful to use it

Oh no, Microsoft use anonymised usage data to determine how to fix and improve the system that you use, how terrible!

There's a reason why 99% of users don't give a shit.

Also you can disable all of the telemetry, I believe, in the registry and shit, if you're really that autistic about it: blogs.systweak.com/how-to-disable-telemetry-and-data-collection-in-windows-10/

But honestly there are way, way more important things in life to give a shit about.

Attached: brainlet7.png (800x729, 48K)

your definition of "improvement" and microsoft's definition of "improvement" can mean two directly opposing things.

If you think Windows has shit features then by all means go and use Linux or macOS. I just think that anonymous data statistics being used by a company to improve their services isn't a good reason to stop using their product. Personally I think features and fitness for a particular purpose are factors that are actually important.

Linux and macOS do have their own advantages, of course. Linux is great for servers and can be good for software and web development. macOS can also be good for web development. Windows is usually best for gaming. They've all got different advantages in different scenarios.

But yeah, anonymous usage data reporting isn't a massive thing for me personally, and if it bothers someone that much, it looks like you can turn off all the telemetry through the registry.

if it was just to improve the service I wouldn’t care but its clearly ramping up to more ads

You can remove tiles for software you don't want from the start menu. After that I'm not sure what other "ads" there are. Admittedly I only use Windows 10 infrequently (I use macOS mainly) but I have not seen any other ads myself.
