fuck off

Ok. user-OP, possible human deviation. I have a phone number I'm going to need you to call. Advise when you have a pen and paper ready to write it down.

Thanks for the update dude

You mean AMD Rebrandeon HD 7970

My dad had a 560ti and when his Q6600 fried, I thought I'd pass him my old rig, but the 280X unfortunately didn't fit the case. So now my 280X, after some maintenance, is currently at the case of a colleague of mine, that sold his 1060 to get a 1070ti, which turned out faulty. Currently on a 580. Dreaming of a 5700XT.

i'm still running AMD 290
at 1440p 144hz
>Dreaming of a 5700XT.
>Dreaming of the inferior solution on the market.

thanks, i was wondering what graphics card you were using, op.

I'm burnt out on nvidia. I also dislike their drivers. If a better solution arrives, I will consider it.

never obsolete

Oh boy you're in for a treat....I'm not going to say why either.

I won't bite. At least, not over TCP/IP. So might as well get it off your chest, user.

also still running mine, memory started degrading though so i can't run anything more than 50mhz below stock

If you're running better cpu than fx 4100 you're good
normie games run fine, and ulta hd graphs are for faggy kids anyways

They're going for like 50 bucks here second hand. I buy them whenever I see any and give them to poorfag friends or use them in budget builds

Tahiti is the second greatest architecture ever made - the goddamn longevitiy it has had is only surpassed by hawaii.

I must admit that picture is actually really good marketing. As straightforward as it gets. Nothing like what we get today.
Same. Have an RX480 at 1440p/144hz and feel like waiting yet another year just because.

>ultra hd graphs are for faggy kids anywyas
poorfag

>1440p
>144hz
>rx 480
why did you buy a 1440p monitor if you are gonna play at low settings anywyas?

I'm still running a 270x

7970 was the greatest gpu of all time

270x Master/budget race.

Because monitors last longer and I was expecting great things from Navi back then. No regrets because it's great even outside of games.

THE REAL MADMAN

>supporting anti-consumer practices because of 10 extra fps in video games

Jow Forums actively supports getting jewed as a rule.

Still got pic related, still rules at 1080p

And I'm still running a 2700x and 2080ti a whole year later fuck it'd so old I better go out and get a new x570 3950x Ddr4 3666+ cl12 c die ram 128gb dual channel and a 2080ti super duper
Nobody cares about you running an ancient shit rebrandon gcn based heap from 6 years ago op my fren

For a second I though it was the 290x vapor-x and was impressed. Then I realised it is not and am now merely respectful.

It's just a humble 290. 290X Vapor-X 8GB would've been the ultimate in terms of sheer NEVER OBSOLETE.

Meh I had a 390x and 290 at launch.
Great cards for their time and dx12 async was neat but under used.
Would have been interesting if vulkan was around the same time dx11 and ogl 4.x was mainstream but sadly the industry dragged their feet until gen 8 on that

The vapor-x was arguably better than the lightning on their respective stock coolers (both were clocked to 1080mhz). Then on the grenade refresh msi goes full madman and unleashed their 390x which runs at 1100mhz out of the box and i'm utterly convinced has a 400w bios due to the voltage they pump through it.

How hard did they crank the volts on that? Because my 290 only needs +25mV and a power limit bump to reach 1100MHz. I've gotten it to 1150 at some point but it really starts guzzling power when you go there.

290x user here. Use it as a second gpu alongside my 1080ti for 2 player with my bro on a virtualised pc. Still werks because it's got 3 fans, reference 290x cooked themselves

recently switched my 460 ti for a vega 56 i bought used

>Tahiti
based
I'd still use my 280X if it didn't die.

I don't know the sort of variance the msi 390x had. My own experience of overclocking my (now retired) supler leaky 290x is with a morpheus I could tame 1200mhz core at just shy of 1.4v.

Pic is just one I had from testing - I could pass the metro LL benchmark at these clocks but it wouldn't hold for sustained gaming sessions.

>fans die on my 7970GE
>XFX sends me an entirely new cooler for free

Mad. The only screenshot I have from my experiments is pic related, this is just on the stock cooler.

Attached: 290OC.png (1736x776, 991K)

Thats some impressive temps given kombuster absolutely thrashes gpus and hawaii is a nuclear reactor in general.

Pic related is my favourite screenshot I managed to take - turns out for whatever reason unigine valley would occasionally give me....interesting readings.

To be fair it hadn't been running for too long when I took that cap, it was just to demonstrate the clocks and stability, but with my case fans on max it usually hovers between 80-85°C. That Vapor-X cooler is really impressive as far as stock units go.

I'm still running Radeon 6770.

i'm still rocking the 6850. Does what I need.

Attached: 255-front.small.jpg (524x270, 35K)

unironically still using mine. works fine at 1080p

I'm surprised people would still be running anything pre-GCN given the lack of driver support.

sure why not, it is good to know not everyone out there is autistic about "MUH ULTRA PLACEBO SETTINGS"

there's barely a noticeable difference between medium-high and ultra, except framerate

I had a gtx 760 until 8 months ago when I bought a used RX580

Still running my radeon 7950, it's still a great card. I don't know of a game that it can't handle at 1080p. Might want it to be more energy efficient or quiet though.

>I don't know of a game that it can't handle at 1080p
Its a matter of what comprimises you are willing to make. While "no compromise" gaming is a meme spread by retards the 7950 (even the 925mhz boost version) is going to have to make a lot of compromises in the latest and greatest. The question becomes does it provide an unsatisfactory experience?

If the answer is no, then keep on trucking. If yes, then one looks towards upgrading. Ultimately the longevitity certain cards have had show that if you aren't a graphics whore (i.e people whom don't actually play games) you can squeeze a lot out of old hardware.

My one is running at 1000mhz though. The newest game I've played on was the Witcher 3 and it ran it fine on medium to high settings on 1080p which was satisfactory and looked awesome. I don't really see the need to upgrade because lately I've become less of a habitual gamer and it still runs the games I like very well.

My Vega 56 arrived today, cost me 300 euroshekels new. If I can sell the games that came with it and recoup some costs, even better. I'll make sure to start a whiny thread in case I don't like the card in the end.

i suggest getting a rtx 2060 super.

For (relatively) high performance gaymen the V56 is the current price vs performance king. In fact with some of the discounts its had recently it arguably tops the precedence set by the 7870 and the almighty RTX 570. AMD's 2nd best gpus have often been frankly absurd good value throughout their lifetime as they often get massive discounts (vs MSRP).

7870 shattered price vs performance when AMD rebranded into the R9 series.
The 290 was far better value than 290x given there was maybe 5-10% performance difference
Fury murdered fury x - especially as fury had AIB models
570 remains king of price vs performance.
V56 is still outstainding value given AIB coolers and price.

ANTISEMITE ALERT

>He didn't buy it when it was called a 7970

Anus 7850. Still alive and well. Gotta upgrade whole build soon probably.

okay now benchmark Exodus

7970 was meh. 7970ghz was the real deal.

based user.
I remember getting on for about $100 back in 2012 and it was an absolute trooper.

I wish my 1660 Ti had 8GB. It's not going to be future proof.

Still the best looking video card ever made.

Attached: asus-r9-390x-20130912.jpg (700x466, 35K)

Mine was about $250 in 2014 because the 3rd world is stupid and expensive like that.

Yesterday I fixed up a PC for my dad's poorfag friend, it had a Phenom II, a whopping 4 GB of DDR2 and a broken 550ti that I replaced with a R7 360. It's a piece of shit, but he plays some old trash MMOs so he doesn't give a fuck.

what "new" card would beat 7970 or its revs?
GTX 770? 1050?

You need a 1060 if you want a noticeable advantage.
A 1050 may be 14nm and with a newer architecture, but it's still a 75W chip versus a 250W chip.

Nyet. 2nd place goes to 290x lightning.

Any game that needs more than 8gb vram will be bottlenecked by the 1660ti processing power before vram becomes a limiting factor
