windows uses extra ram to cache files that may be accessed soon. just like said, have less -> use less. but theres no point in have 15.2gb ram free. as long as the caching disables when you start needing that last bit of ram, its a good use of your ram.

our hyper-v server with 380 GB of RAM at work uses around 7 gb in idle.

my second PC had XP and had 512 MB of RAM. Windows managed just fine with and, aside for having to fetch drivers yourself, the experience feels as good as windows 10, minus the feel of getting spied on every second. big tech exuses are bullshit. you are just bloating our shit.

W10 probably keeps several hundreds of megabytes of useless craps and wastes CPU cycles on useless activities. i just wish i could purge them all and get complete control of my machine, but Windows pretty much catches on fire as soon as you try to link a folder into another drive so it's just better to buy more RAM and give up.
