The thing about hacking is that its a high effort skill that takes constant upkeep. People who actually keep up with the latest in security are academics and people actively working in security or doing big time shady shit. All of which already jump through a bunch of hoops to stay employed and not in jail, they're not going to risk losing their hard work because of internet memes.
Anonymous at its best was a few hobbiest who basically knew your intro to security shit, and a few skiddies, maybe 1 or 2 people that had some real knowledge. The majority of people were just there to hit the start button when they were told.
Even then, it was just a people larping about making a difference, I honestly can't remember a single thing they actually made an impact on other than making life a bit annoying for some people.
