What happened to the Anonymous?

Did they just quit? Is it still going on? If so, how to get involved??

hacktivism was an extremely short lived fad, these days hackers are about getting money

It was a meme.

I am anonymous, what you want?

Hacktivism isn't as easy as it use to be. The Internet is monitored, Windows is literally botnetted by default with no opt out (even in europe), every phone manufacturer has been caught with embedded spyware, or will just straight up hand data over to the feds. ISPs are forced to keep records on EVERYONE for years.

And to top it all off Julian Assange is being extradited

internet security used to be such a joke. I remember in the windows 95 days it was the default setting to share your entire drive over network so if you had a bunch of computers on the same router you could by default go browse the root disks on all the other computers and literally delete their system files if you felt like it. these days everything is harder and people actually use encrypted connections for nearly everything by default. people these days get furious if you store passwords in plain text with no encryption but that used to be everywhere.

we're slowly marching towards a cyberpunk dystopia
baby steps

I wanna know how to get involved. And what are you fighting for right now?

We're fighting drumpf

What are you doing to fight him?

First of all you need to install gentoo

can you use another version of linux??

Could i use ubuntu instead? I have newer used linux before

Has to be gentoo im sorry

I don't know why people are so obsessed with these fake internet moralfags.

posting blacked memes on /b/

Life was easier for script kiddies during anonymous peak. Opsec of a lot of institutions and important people nowadays is still shit, but the environment surrounding it requires you to actually know something about invading and covering your tracks, so the "good hackers" that only knew SQL injections and running LOIC are gone. Idea: couldn't we meme the return of anonymous to convince retards to install kali and pwn themselves?

>Anonymous
It was usurped by SJW.
Most of the knowledged people aren't with the SJW movement. Thus they left. As soon as the hackers left Anonymous lose all their strengh.

No, OP, you are the Anonymous.

Feds pozzed it

Sent you a pm ;)

Because of the faggy theatrics, to normie media it was straight out of a movie that "good guy" rogue hackers were pretending to stick it to the man and larping with costumes and all

Government, law enforcement are more savvy to it now.
Also why hack and show companies, government etc exploits in whatever they are using for free when their is a demand for people in cyber-security?

unironically judaism. people are getting paid to hack their systems now as white hats.

They all got subverted by demonic forces and became trannies and now work for discord.

Fuck you.

Shit was short lived since most of the intelligent people who knew what to do got arrested or joined the feds.
Now it is just kids meming by installing kali linux and doing nothing with it.
Anonymous might come back soon when we are closer to cyber dystopian future. So expect it to come back in 5-10 years.

u mad bro, the truth hurts doesn't it

at least post some guro

why waste it here, post it in /co/ or some other tumblr shit

We were all anonymous user. That's why people call each other user on this website. Everyone could participate on the Habbo and Scientology raids, practically 0 tech know how were necessary for these.

The later (((Anonymous))) were just a bunch of script kiddies that coopted the name.

Don't make me tattle on the mods for hatespeech you bigot

Government took over in 2012

Some things you were just meant to come across in life user.

It is fate

>I remember in the windows 95 days it was the default setting to share your entire drive over network
Even XP had that. They were hidden shares, but still shared.

The thing about hacking is that its a high effort skill that takes constant upkeep. People who actually keep up with the latest in security are academics and people actively working in security or doing big time shady shit. All of which already jump through a bunch of hoops to stay employed and not in jail, they're not going to risk losing their hard work because of internet memes.

Anonymous at its best was a few hobbiest who basically knew your intro to security shit, and a few skiddies, maybe 1 or 2 people that had some real knowledge. The majority of people were just there to hit the start button when they were told.

Even then, it was just a people larping about making a difference, I honestly can't remember a single thing they actually made an impact on other than making life a bit annoying for some people.
