Windows
>double click to install program

Linux
>spend 2 hours searching for tutorials on the internet
>open up a terminal
>carefully enter the completely random and arbitrary command to install some of the packages
>command is always complete gibberish and would be absolutely impossible to know without needing to carefully read through online documentation
>installation fails, doesn't say why
>further internet research suggests other required packages are out of date
>try to update
>package manager lacks the updated files
>now have to do even more research
>24 step guide to manually updating the program
>again with putting completely arbitrary shit into terminal that's so random it seems like a computer-generated password
I swear the fuckers contributing to all these distros are intentionally making GNU/Linux as unintuitive as humanly possible.

this.
bumping to trigger the retarded /v/tards

Seems like a clear-cut case for windows since it's not packaged with a nigger.

>proof that I'm retarded

Windows
>Doesn't explain why shit doesn't work

That literally never happened to me. You must be special retarded.

He doesn't have any more arguments, guys. We won. Easy one.

Installing anything not in a repo or software centre is a clusterfuck of retardation.
Why do lincux defend a free product so hard?

>Installing anything not in a repo or software centre is a clusterfuck of retardation
Name an example.

kek

If you run anything at all that needs uptime...

Windows literally kills all of your processes and reboots no matter what settings you change, there is no way to prevent it.

>comparing building from source to an installer
I’m assuming for your sake you weren’t totally stumped by “rpm -i package.rpm”

he has none

>>spend 2 hours searching for tutorials on the internet
what ?
>>lopen up a terminal
yes
>>carefully enter the completely random and arbitrary command to install some of the packages
random and arbitrary ? it's always the same one ... besides do you know about copy pasting ?
>>command is always complete gibberish and would be absolutely impossible to know without needing to carefully read through online documentation
sudo (superuser do) apt(package manager) install(install) firefox
>>installation fails, doesn't say why
no, just no. windows gives you the internal unsearchanble error code, every gnu package manager has an option for more verbose output as well as logs
>>further internet research suggests other required packages are out of date
if that was the case it would have updated them automatically, why are you trying to install a program on an outdated system anyway ?
>>try to update
>>package manager lacks the updated files
what ????
>>now have to do even more research
step guide to manually updating the program
what????????????????
>>again with putting completely arbitrary shit into terminal that's so random it seems like a computer-generated password
kys, can't MS central come up with better pasta

no, he is

My company refuses to add packages to its internal repo so packages are directly checked into perforce. Makes me sick but I don’t have the keys to the repo.

Linux doesn't exist. It's a prank designed to make you delete your files. All "screenshots" are made in Photoshop.

Why are you telling him that?

hey freetard, draw a circle

I'm on 15 crashes on Manjaro in two weeks. I am on 0 crashes on Windows 10 for two years.
Linux has its advantages, miriads of them, but claiming that anything "just werks" on Linux is pure fucking delusion.

Linux
>single click to install program
You got rekt, pajeet :joy: :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

why not have the convinces of both

macOS literally just unix for people who have sex

based

also i´ve been using W10 since day 1 and literally 0 crashes

Linux is shithole for people who doesnt know what to do with his life

Linux:

You have three options:

1. Download deb or rpm file. Install it.
2. Add repository to package manager and download from package manager GUI.
3. Input, "gibberish," command in command line to download from package manager. (Or from downloaded deb/rpm file if for some reason you don't have an install GUI like GDebi or something.)

>6 months later
>thousands of dependencies installed
>no simple control panel that shows what is installed
>package managers are a cluster fuck of what is installed on your machine

I use Arch, goys

I disagree with most of this other than having to constantly install shit to get windows-like functionality. And by the time you’ve approached that you’re getting internal error pop ups every boot.

On the other hand, if you develop on Linux, holy shit is that easy. Just wish 90% of the programs you build had to be built and tested on windows, otherwise you have to embrace open source

>apps

Attached: iBrain.png (211x239, 12K)

Just get with the times, everything is an app now.

nothing simpler

sudo stands for switch user and do iirc, since you can su (switch user) to other users besides root.

unironically this
most of problems.doesnt includes its proper makefiles or similar in order to install themselves

cat, grep, echo, sed, sudo, ls, etc. etc.

>don't work
>"apps"

he's true you know

>double click to install
how? there's nothing to double click?
you have to search and search on web pages, find the correct button for the download link, download it, hopefully you didn't get a virus
after that you have to install it, hopefully you don't install the malware or spyware that is attached to the installer, hopefully you select the right options

What is group policy for $800, Alex?

Fucking absolutely based

Stop responding to obvious bait

Stop samefagging your own post

Imagine needing to fuck around with settings to prevent the OS from randomly rebooting and interrupting whatever you're doing

Imagine not being able to manage large scale client side deployments at all...

>more than 2 persons have the same opinion
>muh they must be the same one
kill yourself imbecile

Windows
>have to update each program individually
>everytime I open a program get a message saying a new version of the software is available and I should update it right now
>never update anything because when I open a program I just want to use it, not waste time updating it first
>windows wastes my time updating itself everytime I start up

Linux
>OS and all installed programs update with a simple command
>updating is always a background process, can use programs while they're updating
>never waste time finishing updates on startup

Windows has dependencies/dll's too. Also autoremove is a thing.

Imagine being this retarded. I sure hope you are still a student and not working for a company

Sorry for calling out your samefagging

No Active Directory
No group policy

Okay kid...

Oh. So you are retarded. Mind having a trip so I can filter you?

Linux
>is a kernel
>doesn't boot
>does nothing
>merely exist for use in operating systems

Linux is just like Windows except you have to copy+paste things from the internet into terminal basically.

Real facts coming through.

Sudo apt install steam
Y
Enter

Hmmmm, if you can't get it from a repository then find an alternative
Worst case you have to add a personal repository.

Try using an LTS release instead of rolling.

Maybe you'll have less issues. I've had 2 complete operating systems glitches that forced me to do a hard shutdown on an LTS release.

Kys retard

hello, reddit!

Sage bait and maybe a lurker will get value from it.

Is Nvidia optimus still broken on Linux?
That was the only reason I didn't stick to it because I couldn't enable my laptop's dedicated GPU.
