experiences beget more enduring happiness than possessions
prove me wrong (pro-tip: you literally can't)

this is what literally every normalfag says to justify why they spend their entire paycheck on "traveling xD #yolo"

its gay and just as vapid of a mentality

gayest post on the chins

You are.

what technology is this? is it expensive?

So, which overpriced piece of crap did you get suckered in into financing because "it was such a good deal man"?

>bruh you need to go to peru and make a ayahuasca ceremony, it will change your life

Attached: 1524056493653.png (232x217, 8K)

not an argument

Attached: 1560695517759.png (1200x911, 463K)

Depends, if you mean dumb stuff like vacations, concerts... it's literally the other way around. Stuff you own can be used for many years vs 1 hour/day/week. And even for that short time the temporary things are less satisfying.

traveling can be done for little to no money and, contrary to what those people will tell you, is actually more enjoyable when you do it without taking instagram photos the whole time

>go to another country alone
>sit in hotel room
Ok what now? Aimlessly walk around on the streets?

go 2 da bar

Nobody does that after 18.

Shittiest straw-man argument ever

What user poses is pretty much universally accepted as true. What he doesn't take into account is that you need to have some spending money and free time to have more experiences and thus happiness. People who can afford to go full consumerist can also afford to be happy.

>What user poses is pretty much universally accepted as true.
>lots of people believe it, so it's true!
>upvotes are the best barometer for accuracy!

Apple products.

learn the language, meet people, get a small gig for some $$
skip the hotels, camping is free

>go 2 da bar
>order a whiskey
>drink it
>look around a little, there are a few other people doing their own thing
>get bored but order another because I walked all the way here and don't want it to be for nothing
Ok what now?

well you've got to do something that will get you talking to the local people. maybe do a uni course or something

Attached: 1560671976282.jpg (680x580, 103K)

Uncontrollably based

>learn the language
That's something you should do before going there since it takes weeks or months.
>meet people
Do you just speak to random people on the streets? I don't even do that in my home country. Sounds awkward as fuck.
>get a small gig for some $$
Yeah I guess

not the user you’re talking to, but I rarely eat at restaurants, so when I travel I enjoy eating local cuisine and visiting a museum or two. I’m also a fan of tours where someone drives you around or visiting a museum.

visit shrines or temples, or ruins? or go through national parks? forests? jungles? there's a shitload of things you can do. try and think in terms of exploring. look up landmarks. mountain ranges.

talking to people isn't awkward and the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself. most civilians are usually kind and will spare a few minutes to help a confused foreigner

lol u tk him 2da bar|?

absolutely seething :)

Not on my Christian board

>experiences beget more enduring happiness than possessions
Can confirm. I have nice enough stuff, sure, but I'd rather spend $1500 on a weekend trip with my wife than on a new iPhone.

literally why? what you describe sounds about as interesting as staying in bed

Don't mind too much, I think it sounds interesting

LOL, again with the strawman.
Maybe it's because some psychologists actually research what makes people happy.
psych.colorado.edu/~vanboven/research/publications/vb_gilo_2003.pdf

Trips are objectively the worst way you can spend your money. You just prove that you're not very smart. The thing that the only alternative you can think off is a new iphone is a perfect confirmation.

I think it's all about a happy medium. I work with a wide variety of people and have seen the people filled with "wander-lust" who spend every single penny visiting other countries/end up have to pan handle or otherwise borrow money to get back home. Then I've seen people who are never satisfied with the stuff they have. Always some new gadget to replace their old one that is barely 5 month old, always barely ahead if their bills and a single missing paycheck from bankruptcy. I think I found the balance
>Get a new phone every 3 years or longer if updates keep up
>Only update PC hardware when absolutely required or if a new game is coming out that I really want to max out.
>Only get a new vehicle when required or when current one would cost more to maintain than to just get a new one
>Recently got enough travel points from credit card usage for some plane tickets.
>Put in for my entire month of vacation time at work
>Call my FWB who is always between jobs (college girl who does bar gigs occasionally) to see if she's free
>She's down for a month of fun
>She puts up $1900, I put up the remaining whatever it was because I make a lot more, so fuck it
>Month in a 3 star hotel - $1750
>Round trip first class plane tickets - $400 (free tickets but then 1st class upcharge)
>Food, drink, and fun the entire month -$2900
>We hiked, sat on the lake shore, sucked and fucked everywhere we could, hit the bars and attractions
>Ate at different places every day for every meal until we had hit almost every place around
>Even ended up winning almost $1000 at the casino
Yet I had people at my job saying that I was the one being stupid with money.

buy some apple products

>psychologists - literally pseudoscience
>research what makes 2 digit iq idiots happy
user... you have to try harder

Being a consumerist slave is a primary characteristic of sòyboys.

>validate my decision to step over the poor on my way to buy the next status symbol that still doesn't get me laid
We've reached peak autism.

imagine being OP

>Trips are subjectively the worst way you can spend your money
ftfy

Airfare, hotels, fancy restaurants, casinos, are all consumerist trash. Next time I urge you you to travel responsibly, consider not flying, or if you need to, then do some carbon offsetting to make up for it. Avoid the tourism industry and if you can pursue knowledge and organic experiences instead.

>incels vs brainlet normies, the thread
don't even know which one is worse, probably the normies though

As someone who can buy whatever laptop, desktop, and phone he wants, my issue with other people's purchases is the fact they are making shitty votes with their wallets. If no one bought iToddler crap, Apple wouldn't have set shitty trends like notches.

imagine the smell of people posting stuff like that

If you can't think if things to do while traveling when your literally on a board with different pages for interests, nobody can help you.

Travel is a great way to explore other places and cultures, to find new things about those places and yourself, as well as to further develop your own desires.

Like food? Go to Italy and try out the local dishes. Interested in the outdoors? Switzerland has gorgeous scenery as does any country out there.

Or just get out of your fucking room. I bet your local town or city has some imfun shit you wouldn't otherwise gave seen

Not if you're just taking trips just because. If you're just going to be a tourist zombie just to check off bucket list items you might as well stay home. The experiences people remember are the ones where they contributed something to making them happen beyond pay for the privilege of doing it.

If you think the whole field of psychology is pseudoscience, it would be pointless to even argue the merit of the results described in the paper.
Just stick to trolling you brainlet.

What is interesting to you user?

The wonders of the world are lost on this one.

>Carbon offsetting
>Knowledge and organic experiences
Lol that sounds retarded. We did stuff because it was interesting or fun to do. The hikes, rock climbing, and trail riding were a blast. Just because we did all that AND hit up the consumer shit doesn't make it bad.

You sound like some try hard faggot who tries to convince others that you're "worldly"

The bed.

GET EXCITED
CONSUME
GET EXCITED

GET EXCITED

>IT MAKES ME FEEL INADEQUATE ABOUT MY POVERTY
