So, (GNU +) Linux is major poopoo caca when it comes to gaming and video production. Does it also suck for music production?

And no. Linux doesn't suck for gaming and video production (proton, godot, blender, kdenlive, etc). It just that you are retard, seriously retard.

Have you read on what software exists for music production for Linux?

Theres a few good daws but hardly any good vsts/ Theres ways to bridge them over but doesn't work all the time and can be prone to bugs, generally not worth trying. Only worth it if you use mostly hardware/stock effects in your production.

It's meh. There are a few DAWs like LMMS, which is just like a budget FL Studio.
VSTs are rarely compatible.
You'll probably have to fiddle around with JACK, which is a pain in the ass and finicky. None of the audio shit works particularly well in Linux.
You could make it work if you were just gonna record things straight into your DAW and do very little with them afterwards, but in general, just dual-boot windows. That's what I do, it was too much trouble for so little reward in Linux.

Yes, what I’ve seen so far pales in comparison to other DAWs I can just use on my Mac or Windows computers.

test

Yeah proton is actually bretty gud

Guess. I'll give you a hint. The answer is yes.

What do you need that you cant do in a Linux DAW?

Imagine if she didnt become a coal burning whore and wasn't corrupted by the industry.

I've been looking into it and most of the DAW are garbage.

The single quite good software is proprietary : Renoise. Some kind of retro midi composer to do keygen music.

True tho

>wine
>blender
wrong

Anyone know of some more music recording/production software that would be worth trying out for Linux? So far, I've come across Ardour, LMMS, Qtractor, Tracktion T7, Harrison MixBus, Renoise, and Bitwig Studio.

Yeah, it's fine with me if it's proprietary. I mostly use FL Studio and Ableton, but lately I've been curious what Linux has to offer.

I'd say these anons have summed up my issues so far:

GNU/Linux user here, same honestly, it's a good thing wine exists

>video production.
What can you do on windows or macos that you can't do on linux with davinci resolve?

>proton
>vulkan ports
Linux is great for gayming

A kernel alone is useless for gayming.

No. Check Steam+Proton
