i used a pro 4 without a keyboard for 18 months and it was pretty comfy. im pretty sure they have a shorter battery life than an ipad though

iPads are toys, while Surfaces are laptops in a slightly worse form factor. Surface is an unexplainable amount better than the iShit, but tablets are always going to be flawed.

Totally up to what you want to use it for. If you want Windows apps, go Surface. If you want YouTube, Netflix, and being comfy then iPad. The new base models are cheap.
I returned my Surface Pro 6 for an iPad Pro 11 inch as all I care about is the stylus support, ebooks, music, and art shit.
