Are Ultra-Wide monitors worth it? Is there enough support for them in games? I'm currently interested in the ASUS PG35VQ.

Yes, but your pic is ultra-ultra-wide.

Ultra-wide monitors are 21:9 or close to that.

lol sorry about that, just got one of the first things that popped up on google after searching "ultra-wide"

Movies are also great on 21:9.

yes, yes

ultra-ultra wides are great for productivity as a replacement for dual monitors.

I have the alienware 120hz one. Yeah I prefer it over two monitors. Works well with games too although ports sometimes don't support it.

yes and yes.

good for movies and games.

i do find some AAA games that don't have 21:9.

get 100hz or more.

But do you not have to zoom-in and lose some of the image when watching movies to extend the image to 21:9?

In my experience, they are too low resolution to be useful. Except maybe that 34wk95 which is too expensive to be useful for me

alot of AAA? movies are 21:9
even new ones.

they are great for movies.

Honestly, there's nothing better than being ultra wide.

I’ve been thinking about getting one, not as drastically big as the one in your pic but a nice 32” 1440p monitor and honestly while I’m ok with the size of my 27” dell I think 32” is the biggest I’d go before I consider buying a tv

shut up fatty

also "multitasking" is awesome.

you can easily have 4+ windows open and still see what you are doing.

watching 90s tv, Jow Forums and waiting for a package from dhl.

i thought that at first. but i wouldn't go back now.

I'm not fat, I'm ultra wide.

They're a big meme and dont bring any real benefit.

personal, im ultra-ultra wide.

ultra wides are king for multi tasking

I have that monitor

what monitor?

old movie + browser + surveillance is comfy

Certainly

Samsung CHG90

i've just put down $2000 aud into 4 x 4k cameras and NVR.
im getting old.

A good Ultrawide is the best investment you can do for productivity and gaming.
I'm never going back to 16:9, neither are my friends who after trying my montior also bought one.
People saying Ultrawide sucks or is a meme are 100% guaranteed to be poorfags coping.

pro-tip... if you see a ant on your screen... leave it be.

fuckers want $400 to remove it.
its been here for like months now.

Shame most of them are VA, can't stand the ghosting on those

DUDE

>good for movies
no they're not. All movies are 16:9

I once asked the same question and some user told me that "just get a bigger monitor you dummy"
I guess he was right.

uw panels are shitty and expensive

no.

There's an ultrawide by LG with ips and 144hz refresh rate. The freesync version has good ratings by tft central.

and uw resolutions are most likely going to cause some problems in certain situations.

Most movies are recorded in 21:9, you see black bars on the top and bottom because you have to fit it on a 16:9 screen, but generally those are added by the media player and the movie file itself is in 21:9.

>are ultra-wide monitors worth it?
Not for me, not wide enough. I want wide and curved monitors to surround myself with 360 monitor experience.
Guess, I still have to wait...

U ain't got a window?

absolutely not, unless you exclusively play triple-A games from devs who support it. Black bars for days.

Most of these are also curbed, so:
>monitor that displays straight lines as curves
Of course they're great.

i do. but i have to move my neck.. and were pants.

If you're going to game, yes. You won't be able to go back.
Yes, resolution in anything made after 2005 is dynamic.

>He doesn't know about letter boxing
That's not very Kino of you user

The 34uc79g-b, i have one, awesome monitor.
