Single-board computers have all the components built-in, like CPU, memory, etc. And they usually don't have expansion slots, the Raspberry Pi being an example of such a computer.

Everything is on one small board. So ram is most of the time built in with cpu and gpu.

I always wanted to buy one, set it up INSIDE a 5.25" bay in a desktop(since they're always left empty now anyway) and have it kinda as a redundant backup machine. Current PC shits the bed? No worries, just press a corner of the 5.25" bay cover and have the backup machine(with i guess the equivalent of an i3 and gt1030) boot up and all the I/O on your desktop switch over to the other machine.

what are some single board computers that have full Ubuntu support? A lot of the Chinese ones have great specs, but no support at all. Prefer if it had at least dedicated Gigabit port that doesn't share bandwidth with the USB like the rPi does.
