Why is Reddit hated so much on this website?
Yes there are some cringy communities on there, but the exact same and more can be said for Jow Forums or InfinityChan.
Most of the Reddit bashing seems to come from the fact that a lot of popular communities there contradict the hivemind beliefs of most Jow Forums users. Honestly if you don't agree with certain subreddits, just ignore them.
And unlike Jow Forums, there isn't an apparent hivemind of political beliefs throughout the entire site. Whether or not your posts are downvoted depends entirely on the subreddit you are posting in.
The voting system isn't actually the end of the world either. Just scroll to the bottom of the page if you really want to see dissenting opinions.
Reddit is also a great aggregator of media. Plenty of subreddits exist that are consistently great and frequently updated resources of high quality photography, art and even NSFW. Certainly a lot better than the chan system, where threads can stagnate with no original content for days upon days.

We don't care about how reddit is a great aggregator of media and has lots of creators because it killed nearly every single site and community because fucking it's corpse and Integrating it to the reddit shitpile of "communities". What's more is the presence of the upvote system that makes every don't post a popularity contest. People are enticed to shit out blog posts like "my wife got me a vasectomy and gifted me a switch" in the gaming sub when it doesn't contribute ANYTHING to the discussion.

It's not that there's inherently anything wrong with Reddit, it's more so the main communities of Reddit (i.e subreddits that Jow Forums has equivalent boards for) attract the absolute cancer of the internet and the more niche communities barely get enough posts to be worthwhile

Anyway, Reddit’s only good for niche communities that don’t exist elsewhere, like if you play an obscure game or have some weird fetish that for whatever reason congregates there.
For any mainstream topics it’s just inferior to everywhere else.

Anonymity is a powerful feature of Jow Forums. Upvoting and associating yourself with the post means you curate yourself and won't post anything controversial or "against the grain", you're also followed across all subreddits and your profile shows who you are.
On 4chins I can call you raging faggot in one thread and my gay lover in another without either of us even knowing who the other is or that we're even commenting to the same person.
Every idea and thought is and has to be evaluated on its own merit and not the person behind it.
Reddit forces you to be a good boy and to be exactly what others want you to be. It's worse because others will have a direct influence on how you conduct yourself.
I've had so many different personalities over the years on Jow Forums. You can't do that on reddit.

Hating reddit has been a pillar of Jow Forums culture since I first came here like 7-8 years ago. The reason for the gatekeeping is because Jow Forums has a very unique culture, and it was a way of saying "you have to adopt our culture and beliefs to post here, because we don't want our site becoming like every other site on the internet."
We shat all over newfags. We didn't need them to have a good website, because of the whole you're here forever thing. They only could (and still can) make the site worse, they needed us but not vice versa. You have to lurk here for weeks or months and appreciate the culture before posting, and by lurking you'd notice the no-nos of how not to get exposed as a newfag and how to pretend you're an oldfag that's been here all along.
Unfortunately, we've been flooded with redditors over the years that have borderline ruined the site, most notably the trump worshipers and edgelords from the alt right. Instead of trickling in and conforming, they came en masse when they and their subreddits got banned off reddit for being insufferable, so now they're here and it's just nigger nigger nigger all fucking day long, they bring their shitty politics into fucking everything on earth, which you may have noticed in every other fucking thread of Jow Forums. They're just SJWs except pathetic retarded men on the right rather than pathetic retarded women on the left.
The problem isn't reddit, it's the people that come here from there and threaten our culture and our threads and our boards, killing off quality threads for their mouthbreather questions and derailing them with their retarded spam. Also I think up and down voting is a garbage post evaluation system for anything except apolitical humor (for everything else there are at least ten different ways posts need to be able to be rated), and ordering posts by vote, and fear of being downvoted, creates an obnoxious circle jerk around whatever is popular. And the global mods are assholes who sell your personal information to CNN to force you to do what they want. Reddit's hivemind is real and enforced by site rules. Jow Forums is not a hivemind and of you're seeing one it's because you're looking for one because you expect every website to have one.
I'll admit Jow Forums isn't a good place to be creative, but that's because conversation moves too fast, and there's no permanence to your posts, and you can't build up a reputation if you're not posting constantly, so it's not really worth the effort.
