What are some ancient obsolete tech that really needs to die but for some reason people are still using them? For me it’s the 3.5mm headphone jack. Why can’t we move on to better ways of listening to audio instead of using analog old technology?

Name one audio listening device that doesn't use analog technology to produce sound

for me it's keyboards. why do we even need them when our 2-in-1 has an onscreen version that's more reliable and doesn't take up space?

micro USB

drink bleach, retard

screens
like damn nigga why isnt this shit inside my brain already i could be looking at loli on the bus already dam

What is it with retards and hating audio jacks? Sure, they probably aren't the end-all-be-all best way to listen to audio, but they are WAY better than shitty Bluetooth headphones that you have to charge in order to use them. That reason and that reason along is why they are probably going to stay around for a while.

For me it's bait threads. Why can't we move on to better ways of posting instead of reusing the same tired old bait?

Desktops. They are heavy and ugly, they should no longer be supported. Only all in ones should be acceptable in terms of desktop computers. Also mice. Only touchscreen support please, thanks!

We should get rid of flashlights. We have good low light cameras already and also real superior indoor lighting. Anyone holding a dick in their hand needs to be put in a gay death camp, this month if possible.

Complete personal computers at home.
I can't wait for desktop streaming to take off so we can get rid of all the retard AMD vs Intel/Nvidia daily threads

3.5mm jack is one of the best designed pieces of technology around.
Literally the only issue you could possibly have is the cable itself which is a good price to pay for not having to charge your goddamn headphones.
If it gets tangled, get a flat cable. It's miles better than a round one.

Wires. Fuck wires, they get all messy. We should transmit everything wirelessly. Even power. I don't care if it has adverse health effects, wires should have been gone years ago.

>seething this hard

since audio has to be converted to an analog signal before being able to listen to it, it is comfy to have a DAC inside the smartphone. If you were to remove it from the phone, it has to be included in the hearphones or whatever other audio equipment, which means they will rise in price. It is better to pay more for an integrated DAC than to pay more for headphones imho

Niggers. We used them for slavery at one time. Now a computer can work harder, faster, less lazy and much more smart, they can even do more than pick cotton. The niggers are outdated, commit too much crime and look like shit, retrofitting them with jobs now is even more insane and outdated than using an arduino as your personal computer.

Hating on the based aux, tsk tsk tsk
zoomers want to kill everything good and noble in this world

3.5 will not die in our life times. Don't even think of the 6.3 or higher. So long their are E-Guitars they will stay timeless.

Why do redditors respond to this obvious shit?

If you ask me it's this. Yes they are dying, but the fact that they even existed is what bothers me. Why not a straight cable? These shit cord tangle themselves on evrything even themselves. To make a call you have to stretch that shit straight first.

Attached: wound cords.jpg (360x460, 21K)

Piss off ishill

i genuinely do not understand the attachment to the 3.5mm jack. just get headphones that use your phones power/data input. why waste all that internal space for a single use port

Because a separate dac is better. Better isolation from power and separation of concerns, if it breaks just get a new one. And they're cheap and (at least Apple's) good. You can use it on other devices

SATANIA!!!! This thread sticks of Apple! Do your job!

so innovative. Can't believe we didn't have to great improvement earlier

>obsolete
>Apple's 3.5mm
Yes, it was obsolete from the get go.

>Why can’t we move on to better ways of listening to audio instead of using analog old technology?
Because the drivers inside headphones are analog, so there's no reason to go away from the very thing that produces the audio waves.

For me it's front camera.
They were obsolete before even being thought up.

>rid of all the retard X vs Y
Mobile X ARM CPU vs Mobile Y ARM CPU is so much better?

>listen to audio
>without analog
Enjoy?

Its surprising that the bluetooth org hasn't come out with a lossless audio transmission protocol for bluetooth yet...and no AptX isn't lossless

OOOOOOOOOOOF

This is astroturf from the recording industry and government types alike, both of whom wish to plug the analog hole.

Don't fall for it. Never buy a phone, tablet, or computer without a 3.5mm audio jack.

Almost every DAC is trash though. Especially for listening to 16-bit 44.1KHz audio. These days every DAC is a shitty bitstream model which sucks equally for all uses.

I don't think you know what that means.

>he doesn't control his lights, fan, AC, DVR, TV, HTPC with his phone

Oooh so you don't have infrared transmitter?
That's okay user!
Get pic related! :)
Oh... wait you mean you spent $1000 on a phone without a jack or IR transmitter?

OOOOOOOF

Attached: ir-3.5mm.jpg (1200x1200, 168K)

Because Bluetooth sucks and dongles blow.

Straight cords tangle even more when used with a telephone handset. Wound cords prevent the cord from going everywhere or being too short. They do get tangled but that's from you rotating the phone between picking it up and setting it down, thus twisting the cord over time. Ironically, the solution to this problem is right in your image - those little pivot dongle things let the cord untwist itself.

Kys based shill.

>he doesn't control his lights, fan, AC, DVR, TV, HTPC with his phone
But I do...
I have a phone for all my home and car needs besides my regular Note9.

Attached: index.jpg (297x170, 5K)

>one dac and one amp per each transducer
Yeah, this sounds amazing, not at all retarded.

add a second port if you remove the 3.5mm port
otherwise it's just a feature deficit

>Oh... wait you mean you spent $1000 on a phone without a jack or IR transmitter?
I spent 350 on one with both, plus a removable battery.

Bad bait, going to respond anyways.
Why reinvent the wheel when it is already perfect?

>better ways

Name a better solution. Before you start,
>bluetooth
garbage quality, interference, planned obsolescence due to dying batteries
>usb
Doesn't rotate so it will die fast, you won't even be able to charge..

god I miss my HTC 10
It couldnt have been more feature packed for a reasonable price

The apple usb-c dac literally measures far better than the integrated shit found in snapdragon socs. The only phone dac still worth getting is LG's quad dac, otherwise you might as well get the apple usb-c adapter. Which also measured better than early high-end schiit

It's not perfect, but all the replacements are square wheels with flat tires.

b..but if i want to charge my phone while listening to music?

Then you get a dongle hub to plug your dongle and charger in at the same time.

well.. sorry, nothing personal but i think i will keep using my dedicated flac player.

Can your dedicated flac player use a dongle hub to charge, listen AND connect an SD reader for expanded storage AT THE SAME TIME? Didn't think so.

>For a mere $40 you can buy 2in1 adaptor goy

Yea it is

audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-apple-vs-google-usb-c-headphone-adapters.5541/

You've got the famous ipod dac in a dongle. Works with PCs. $10. Just needs and amp for high impedance cans

show model faggot

>2019

The fuck, Apple? Even the onboard AC97 audio on my Pentium 4 went up to 192 kHz.

Cobol, Algol, Fortran languages
they still hire some guys to handle that shit for some insurance companies, and they got like a lifetime job on that hit.

>MUH 192KHZ AUDIOPHOOLERY
If it doesn't float your boat, thanks apple popularizing audio dongles you can find other usb-C dacs that do support it. They've "democratized" cheap, good audio that was previously gatekept by scumbags like schiit

the keyboard.
i'd imagine that a few decades further we'd have something far more comfortable/organic to our hands.

I still think LG's solution was more elegant.

Attached: lg-g5-hi-fi-plus-with-b-o-play-sound-sim-free-cheap-2926232076349_grande[1].jpg (600x600, 22K)

I find the opposite true. I'm not a fan of clumsy form factor, device specific solutions for anything, like motomods or LG's various attempts at mods. The dongle is ubiquitous because most of them work across most devices that simply have a usb-c port and all it is is a slightly chunky extension to your cable

the v series was an even better solution

In my experience a USB-C plug comes undone much easier than a 3.5mm jack, and the LG unit does a better job of taking the strain off the USB plug if you use it as a stand-alone unit with another phone.

But the HTC 10 didn't have IR though.

>not looking at loli wherever you are
grow a pair

0/10 that bait sucked

Attached: you_tried__by_the_mexican_whovian-d5od4z7.png (1600x1523, 498K)

Using the 3.5mm jack on my S9+ with Sennheiser HD800s atm and it sounds great, much better than any zoomer bluetooth shit.

kindles and vapes still use that horrible connector.

Lol I was going to say that. Giving antique farm equipment rights instead of disposing of them properly was the mistake of the century.

Consider the third world.

Coiled cables are fucking amazing because you can have really long cables that take up less space. I've got a pair of headphones with a 6 foot cable and it gets stuck on fucking everything.

Attached: Braposcope_9001.webm (1280x720, 1.01M)

99% of the people listen to mp3's or other lossy formats. I don't give a shit how good your external DAC is, if you feed it garbage, you're going to get garbage.

>*reeeeee* intensifies

>the fact that they even existed is what bothers me.
the period of time after multiplexing was invented and people could cheaply make phone calls and before wireless telephones were available

in 1984, how do you talk on the phone while cooking dinner? one of those things.

Transistors.

>his keyboard can't be more screen space when not needed

Wheels. This old tech has been rolling around since the stone age, much longer than the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Wheels are a stagnant tech that isn't going anywhere and I'm thoroughly tired of them. Why can't we replace them with something else already?

Attached: d28a9bc7-b997-451b-a638-10eb52d92582_1.4472fc7ffa1bb9d98a59b88151f5333b.jpg (2000x2000, 516K)

The fact nobody has pointed out that this post just says "keyboards" and not "phone keyboards" and implies the user exclusively uses a phone or a tablet irks me.
You are all phoneposting niggers.

You bell end
>Muh headphone jack is obsolete tech

It's stood the test of time and is comfy, low cost, high compatibility, works and is fine
The only reason companies like apple are forcing consumers to drop it is because of the glint of monies in the horizon

This and also most new phones have a DAC built in

BASED and rebel pilled

do you have any idea how audio works, you technologically illiterate retard?

>This and also most new phones have a DAC built in
if phones had no DAC, we would hear nothing out of them, Jow Forumsenius. how do you think digital mobile phones have worked since they were invented? magic?
>if you feed it garbage, you're going to get garbage
exactly right. no DAC in the world can make a shitty encoded mp3 less shitty.

When you copy your mp3s over, the transfer software handles telling the phone how to etch the decoded sound into a tiny vinyl disc.

What are you talking about moron? 2 in 1 is a laptop an tablet

>When you copy your mp3s over, the transfer software handles telling the phone how to etch the decoded sound into a tiny vinyl disc.
HAHA. a hipster's wet dream!

>measured
Music isn't a sine wave, the very best DACs went out of production decades ago, the Philips TDA-1540 and 1541.

Bluetooth needs a couple extensions before it can replace 3.5 mm jacks:
Zero-Latency Bluetooth for Gaming
Bluetooth that Actually Syncs to Video on Windows

>relying on any connection to listen to music
Just memorize every song you like so you can play it in your head whenever you want. Are you all too stupid to do this?

320 MP3 is perfectly fine for any non-autist

Yeah man processors are really obsolete, we need to get rid of them. Who needs those things anyway?

but i still want to listen loli ASMR
