I don't think you could have chosen a more boring person to do a video on.
Their whole day is literally commuting, eating and staring at a screen, undoubtedly shitting out glue code to fill requirements, with zero design input on your part.

he has yellow fever like many nerds in 2019 and just wants to talk about asian women

This isn't reddit where you can farm upvotes what the fuck is this trend of reposting the same bait videos over and over again? Is there an opposite of a pinned posted? Can these shit reposts be autosaged?

That's a typical software engineer day at some companies. Most of the time it's more boring. Don't know what your standards are

My days used to be like this. You're lucky if you work in a place with a kitchen and hipster atmosphere. A lot of people show up at office, and depending on their team, just organize stuff and have meetings, eat, go home, and they hit their milestones in crunches. It's pretty easy living if you are productive. Makes you pretty complacent with working for a company

why does this shitty video gets shilled so much? are you the actual gook in the video OP?

Yeah but how did they get those jobs? Are they actually good at what they do? Or is this all just a farce?
What knowledge or skill is needed to get a job here? Copying from stackoverflow is what monkies do.

he has yellow fever

It depends. Interviews are not super consistent and sometimes competency has equal weight to arbitrary traits. Usually if someone is hired that doesn't pull their weight after enough time(scrubs can and do get way better), they don't last long. Overall though, it's often like shooting fish in a barrel. The team is good enough to execute on what management wants. That's why it's so lax and comfortable. This woman for example, she probably is meritorious.

If you want a job like this the best thing you can do is know somebody, have at least a year in the field before you even interview (freelance is OK), be young, be trainable, seek (paid) internships, and live in an area where these companies actually are.

is being 28 still considered young in the tech industry?
I feel like tech has turned into porn. After a certain age you are tossed or not wanted unless you appeal to a niche.

28 is getting old, 33-35 is far too old

It's hell.

If you are in your twenties it's okay. You just need to appear youngish(don't look like a Boomer) and if you aren't young looking you just have to hit every beat that conveys you are immersed in current culture and trends.

Put yourself in a spot where your friends are programmers working the way you want to work. Imitate them, learn what they actually do, know what is possible, and then put in the pure hours working on stuff so you can be authentic, and you eventually will work like them. It might take years but it will work. Surround yourself with role models

>come to work and leave basically whenever I want
>code whenever
>free meals with lots of choices
>can look at Jow Forums at work
It's great.

this guy has only worked at boomer companies apparently. its fairly standard to have food provided nowadays.

Stop shilling yourself, tech chinkress

>shows up at 10:30am
>first thing she does is take a break and make breakfast
>gone by 5:30pm
>minus one hour for lunch

solid 5.5 hours worth of work at most
that's less than 30 hours/week

youtube.com/watch?v=vt79JcPfZQA
this one is more comfy

i'm 31 and younger than all (and I mean all) my peers by an average of 10 years. there's a couple people ~5 years older than me but that's the closest. work at a mega bank.

this just made me feel like a loser

why though

because she went to an elite school and had prestigious internships and a high paying comfortable job where she gets to do interesting work

Corporate propaganda to increase the labour pool of software jobs, thus lowering wages

I thought they just pushed immigration to do that why do they need more than that

>engineers
everybody is an engineer.
everybody wants to be an engineer.
everybody memes egnineering.

I like to have fun with those enginiggers.
I make them feel bad when I tell them that scientists > enginiggers.
there are also lvl 7 microsoft support engineers... there's nothing to brag about.

t. CS graduate, with MSc in EE and in a few months PhD candidate in CE. :D

>get up
>shower, breakfast
>take train to work
>screw around for first half hour
>get on webex for 45 minute "appdev" (aka "all the APIs and requirements that have changed for no good reason")
>30 minute "standup" over webex
>work for an hour or so
>1/2 hour lunch
>read for another 1/2 hour
>4 hours left on the clock
>do actual work with stupid meetings and random conference calls interspersed
>take train back home
>get 7/11 or leftovers for dinner
>work on side projects or shitpost until wife gets home
>go to bed
at my last job i could post on Jow Forums, my current job blocks almost everything and i cant even run linux since it's an all-windows shop. having so many meetings provides plenty of chances to refine my sudoku skills, which is nice i guess

Something funny about these videos is that it is always a shitskin and never a white person.

Why are shitskins always a narcissistic sociopath?

Scientists get paid peanuts. At least you get to brag about your PhD while tutoring for the SAT.

I've worked with a bunch of pajeets. I don't believe they are worth what you would save by hiring them. They can't think for themselves and are always yes men.

Large companies (banks, Oracle, etc) and govts have a fairly old workforce.
You won't get many non-health/wealth benefits, though. I worked at Tekelec when it got bought, Oracle got rid of free snacks and increased cafeteria prices. I've also worked at several banks, all had free coffee but none had free sodas, cafeterias, or snacks. Currently working at a government agency, no cafeteria or even a vending machine, just tap water.

same can be said for everyone once compared to actors, singers, niggerball players, etc..
Those who do r&d in the companies have the least stressful jobs and are not in the same fate as those "engineers" who struggle every 5-8 months to release another "new" product.

>tap water
kek, also checked

and enginiggers get paid peanuts compared to twitch thots
what's your point

try and work in consulting. I work in consulting and it's pretty good. my boss makes 7 figures which is hard to do at any tech company, although early career tech pay is better. long hours and high stress though.lots of perks, we eat a lot of fancy meals and get business class everything.

isn't a white person shitskin compared to asian? what's your definition of shitskin

You take your work everywhere. Frequently on-call after hours and many companies will pay for your phone bill and data

>banks
you're not relevant unless you work at an emerging tech company with a primal name
youtube.com/watch?v=db1BRwyrSSg

Just practice leetcode for a few months and spam your resume to all the tech hubs. Easy 200k starting, not even meme-ing.

I'm not a female so I can't be a twitch thot.

you got yours like that?

eat shit you mouthbreatthing imbecile, stop spamming this fucking thread all the god damn fucking time

hes paid to shill leetcode

Excuse me?

kill yourself

you're still expected to be in the office for 40 a week, even sysadmins who fix shit all weekend and night do their 40

>Uh, going to work, and using a computer? Yeah, my day's pretty much exactly like this.

Also please browse Jow Forums more before you click Post. That video is two years old, and I've seen it posted here without fail once a week.

>is it similar to this?
yes and it's fucking hell. How do I escape Jow Forums? I don't even want to look at a computer anymore. I need out

Attached: 1532631401248.jpg (427x427, 78K)

You don't know how good you have it.

spam

Attached: snapshot_00.40.000.png (1920x1080, 2.95M)

yeah don't care what's trendy, they pay me well, give a shitload of time off, and I can work remotely the majority of the week. a can or two of beer on friday doesn't beat that.

>Scientists get paid peanuts
true except for data scientists. they can command 200k+ salaries/bonus in average regions with only a few years experience. DS's will be in control of the direction of every major corporation in next decade or two at least. it's a fairly shitty job though, mostly creating powerpoint decks of your research findings for senior leadership.

she's cute
tfw no cis female asian qt Jow Forumsf to debug software with
also fuck captcha

this is because they don't need to offer any additional incentives to work there. stable, well paying, long term careers vs. exposed brick and reclaimed wood startups that you're lucky to last over a year at.

Here goes
>wake up
>stuck in traffic for 1h30m listening to awful tunes in radio
>office, sit in from of computer screen
>fix bugs
>answer stuff
>eating break, try to have casual chit chat in the kitchen with others
>resume, do same things
>leave
>stuck in traffic for 1h30m
>home, take a bath, tired
>sleep
It's really miserable and weekends are the worse because I contemplate about my ruined life and past mistakes.

It beats though being a NEET but not by much.

Free food is awesome and not limited to random startups.

Data scientst aren't really scientists though

Most of them are just analysts disguising useless work with maths and claiming that's rigor

fact and I've got it before and often with my mega bank employer, but that was almost 10 years ago when I was in a shitty mail room-tier job and working boat loads of overtime. once you're in a respectable role the free food goes away.

yes that's what all the meme stuff is. in reality most of their important work will be confidential/internal use only stuff or restricted/even more sensitive stuff.

a large enterprise will only have a small number of "real" data scientists leading major departments, then a small army of "almost" data scientists as you described. the almost data scientists still pull 150k+ salaries in avg/low cost of living regions.

Techy companies seem more likely to offer it.
Traditional firms less so.
I just think of it same way as the laxer dress code at techy companies vs a bank.

Wake up at 7:20 (or 7:10 if I want to take a shower first). Throw some cereal into my mouth and bike to work starting 8:00. Spend at least 50% of the time in my office just dicking around on the internet like I would at home, but bosses are still happy and say I'm very productive. Lunch in the office cantina for 30 min. Done at 16:00, home at 16:30. Watch a TV series while eating dinner and then do whatever I feel like for the rest of the day until I go to bed 22:00.

If you could go back, what would you change so as to not become a code monkey?

Not be a good student in school.
Not being a "good guy" and putting pussy on a pedestal.
Joining the army or boarding a cargo vessel and sailing the seas or becoming a car engineer or a carpenter.
I would avoid university at all costs.
Biggest mistake.

>it's just another hipster tier casual profession
somebody needs to bomb these places

Imagine wasting almost 4 hours a day. across three different means of transportation, simply to get to and from your wage slavery workstation.

Attached: 1533839110606.png (1200x864, 371K)

Exactly the same but with less time time wasted for transportation
Also i dress like a girl too

they are so fucking cute, brehs

This, I just want to go back being a NEET but my parents don't let me and I can't afford to live on my own.

Go to the cscareerquestions subreddit and see for yourself.

Hey, if you wanna keep working your dogshit job that’s your choice not mine. I will enjoy my 20 hour work weeks in Colorado earning more than the 50 year old wagecucks at your firm.

>I will enjoy my 20 hour work weeks in Colorado
i want to enjoy them too. what company and how difficult is it to get a job there?

Big G, just leetcode and do a few full stack web apps. All those people saying the big tech companies enforce a no life, all work schedule are brutally wrong. As long as you finish your work on time nobody cares whether you sit in the office for 80 hours or 10 hours. Try to get some sort of technical experience, I started in manual QA, moved into SDET work at the same company, studied this entire time, and then jumped. Took me just under a year.

>isn't a white person shitskin compared to asian?
What makes you say that, weebcel? I know you're coping since that's what you weebcels do on an hourly basis, but I'd like to know what you think your autistic screeching will achieve.

Attached: 1554924092163.png (631x470, 718K)

here comes the autistic white incel with yellow fever and his coping spam

Attached: 1560873398272.png (566x357, 417K)

bro my daily life is fucking meetings and then like 2 hours of cookie cutter programming

why the fuck is this posted every day?

yellow fever something NEETs something never leaving their parents house giving them all the time in the world to spam something

Attached: 1544170083624.jpg (1768x2146, 1.2M)

Hell yeah brother. I work for a bank doing some CICS-related work. I don't get paid a SV salary, but I get paid well for my lower COL area, get a shitload of time off, and get to work remotely often.

Attached: 1525224203701.png (381x353, 32K)

it's the good life brother. except for that CICS mainframe shit. every mainframe system can suck my cock. fucking transactions man.

Attached: 1360380124099.jpg (169x213, 7K)

Usually companies will take in new people as they have some veterans on their team that do all the heavy lifting that will either help train you or will only give you 'easy' tasks like UI related shit so the veterans can focus on the back end things.

I made the unfortunate mistake of getting started in mainframes right when I graduated from college. Spent too long at that job and now it's tough to escape with that on your resume. At least it's decent job security

Attached: music.jpg (480x480, 33K)

IQ

yeah, you'll never be unemployed the rest of your life. you could probably easily transition into DBA/ETL/SQL developer roles. learning SQL and ETL work is pretty trivial but the mainframe and business knowledge of how the data is suppose to work is infinitely valuable and what actually gets those data and DBA jobs.

I work for a hip fintech startup with tons of startup gimmicks. Most of what we sell is smoke and mirrors, what we do is mostly ad-hoc and managers are all self-declared visionairies who don't understand finance. Got a new job at company like yours, counting down the days now.

that sounds like fresh hell. i feel sorry for you if you set that standard with your employer.

If your university were free, would you still avoid it?
