Look for a thinkpad since they have amazing quality and the best service I've ever seen from a company-more info on . I would recommend since you have the money to go after the newer models.

Worked for MSI, they are really good, except for the bloatware. Stay away from RTX, it's not worth it. A 2080 performed really bad at BFV felt worse than 1070 with huge overprice , get a 10 series one, 1080, 1070 is the way to go, the GE series is really great,
Also get one with 120hz also ssd. Avoid refurbished shit. Careful with the hinges. Undervolt it.

If you don't mind size then the gt series has the best cooling in the whole market.

Buy a laptop with good cooling and a good cpu that has thunderbolt. Get an egpu, get a portable monitor or something... Idk how much space you have but you could probably wall mount a cheap 1080p / 1440p led monitor so it's super thin and save on space. Just make sure it's Vesa mount compatable cause some cheap ones aren't

If you're a truck driver no consumer class hardware is going to cut it, you're going to need to get something rugged but not insanely stupidly expensive. I'd recommend either a Dell Rugged Latitude (pictured) or perhaps a Lenovo ThinkPad in the T-series but the Latitude would be superior for rugged manhandled in-vehicle out-of-vehicle use without issues.

There's no reason - no reason AT ALL - to think you'd need to spend $5K on a laptop, that's fucking insane. Spend a bit less, get something rock solid and dependable, then get things like accessories, a dock for the truck (a mobile mounting dock like you see in police/EMS vehicles), extra batteries, extra AC adapters so you always have power, maybe even some portable fuckin' solar panels.

Spend some of that $4K left over from the purchase to get accessories to make using the laptop on the road a truly viable option: a WWAN card for broadband Internet on the go (4G LTE), etc.

But don't buy any consumer class shit, seriously, just avoid it like the plague.

Besides, having a nice rugged laptop like that one with the handle on it, comes in handy when you find yourself in a situation where you might have to beat some pissant to death with it. That rugged nature will surely stand up to simple skulls and other various surfaces.

I agree that 5k is overkill but any laptop under around 1.5k and you have to make compromises. Storage, cpu, something(or multiple things) are not going to be great. If op had the money why not spend 2-3k on a top notch laptop since he said he wants to spend it?

So get a newer more expensive Dell Rugged Latitude, fine with me, as the model I provided a link to is a few years old. The newer ones are obviously more current hardware but they stopped making them with handles a few years ago.

I don't know of any truly rugged laptop with a decent gpu that exists. Being ruggedized would limit airflow and thus the two seem mutually exclusive. Get a pelican case to store it and just take care of it when you use it. Also any gaming laptop still should have a cooling stand so imo a laptop table adapted to the part of the truck where it will be used becomes essential as well
