Funny you mentioned UI. Rockbox's UI engine is basically just lists and 2 customizable screens. No alpha transparency, no proper font rendering, no animations, no album cover browsing, ...
It really feels like something straight out of the mid 2000s.
The iPod classic that came out in 2006 had a more pleasant interface.
Rockbox's UI doesn't hold a candle to Sony's, unless you value being able to slap anime tiddies over your now playing screen that much.
