/obsd/ - OpenBSD General

OpenBSD is a free and open-source, security-focused, Unix-like operating system.

How do we kill the openbsd?

Previous thread: Note: Troll(s) are spamming this thread for some reason, throwing insults and lies at OpenBSD and its users, try to ignore them, since they contribute nothing to the discussion other than derailing the thread, which is what they want. They divide into two groups:

1- They are mostly just triggered Linux fanboys that don't want people to use something else.

Or

2- They are people that OpenBSD doesn't fit their workflow, and when they discover that, they become angry, disappointed and start flooding this thread with their complains. A good example of that are people who expect performance that's on par with DragonFlyBSD/FreeBSD, even though extremely high performance was never a goal for OpenBSD, which is evident when they disabled hyperthreading in favour of security. That doesn't mean that OpenBSD isn't fit for your programming/watching videos/browsing stuff though. If you want a BSD that sucks every bit of performance out of your processor, go with DragonFlyBSD/FreeBSD since that's exactly their thing.

OpenBSD just got a Vulkan port! Those guys are kicking it hard these months, first AMDGPU, then working on removing the giant kernel lock, now this

And if I choose freebsd? :)
Less secure?

Yes and get ready for people to *hug*you.

Nope, all BSDs care about security, including FreeBSD

OpenBSD just cares about security more than them and implements more security features and a cleaner code base.

If you are asking about *BSD in general, then most hardware should work fine (make sure that your wifi card is supported though).

As for OpenBSD, choose anything as long as it doesn't have an Nvidia card and the list of supported WIFI cards can be found in the original post.
If you have hardware that doesn't work on *BSD, then blame the hardware manufacturer for not providing the *BSD with the binary blobs/source code.

Does anyone use FVWM around here? I asked in the last thread but no one answered.
