Can we take a moment to laugh about delusion thinklets who actually believe trackpoints are a selling point? They are literally a shitty joystick, who actually believes that they are better to use than a trackpad (not that thinkpad users have experience with good trackpads to compare, but still)

It's a Jow Forums meme, most people here don't actually take them seriously (ie trackball mice, Stax, etc).

i thought they were a meme too, until my trackpad broke and i had to use one. nowadays i turned off the trackpad on all of my thinkpads.

if there was a mechanical keyboards with mxbrown switches and a trackpoint i would probabaly use that one on my desktop aswell. (of course i would keep a mouse too)

its sometimes a lot faster to use the trackpoint instead of grabbing your mouse or a trackpad for clicking some shit.

Pretty much this. I used thinkpads for years before accidentally ripping the ribbon cable to my trackpad in my main machine while upgrading the ram. I fell in love after about 2 hours of frustration. I also would love a mech setup with a trackpoint for my desktop.

So much butthurt from that other thread, you had to start a new one?

you've probably never used any of those things
then again you're probably a dumb zoomer

I'd love to get one of these things but they're too damn expensive and also PS/2.

if you think that's expensive, look at the tex yoda

>no middle click
useless
Spacesaver II is an alternative but it's shitty membrane. And also cheaper

At least I didn't literally purchase Jow Forums memes
then again you're probably a millennial faggot LARPing as "le experienced tech boomer"

it's useless when you are just playing gaims and browsing.

That'd honestly be cheaper because I'd have to ship the M13 to yurop as well which costs a lot.

Yeah that's a big part missing.

But i'm using one on my desktop because i didn't fall for mechanical keyboard meme yet

I like and find them more comfortable to use than trackpads. So does my gf(female), she hates trackpads.

I literally can not use touchpads anymore after getting used to the trackpoint with softrim cap. I'm hooked to it like heroine.

I don't think I would ever buy a laptop (or even a keyboard) without it anymore. Words can't really explain how gosh darn blissful it is to use when you get used to it.
Especially with that concave cap.

can the cap be changed in every thinkpad?
I tried to take it off but it seemed to be glued in

>2019
>Fingering a beta trackpoint
Why aren't you using a TrackBall user?

Nah nigger, you're full of fucking shit. I disable my trackpad I hate those things so much. Posting this from my Thinkpad T400 with a beautiful trackpoint.

It should be removable.

Alright Stax are fucking stupid, and I don't really care about trackball mice, even though I've used them, but trackpoints are fucking nice. I like not having to deal with shitty trackpads, and not having to take my hands away from my keyboard's nice as well.

Yes you can and should.
soft rim a best

they literally are a selling point
bait and sagepilled

Better than a trackpad

Mostly because no modern laptops have the option. I'd love it

no trackpad > trackpad. thinkpoint's just a nice option for ALMOST never ever ever using the mouse.

YOU ARE POSTING FROM A 10 YEAR OLD DEVICE
of course the trackpad on your outdated shit is abysmal you absolute fucking mouthbreather

again, the only reason thinklets like the trackpoint is because they have nothing decent to compare it to.

>here is your mouse replacement bro

literally thinkpad chills, but a real joystick would actually be more useful.

"having nothing" is more decent than having the alternatives.

How do you know?

i scrolled to this using my trackpoint on my t60, while my hands were able to stay on the keyboard at the same time so i can type up this shitpost. stay delusional, faggot.

from having used the alternatives and then having to disable them when they get in the way

How are you meant to scroll without a trackpad? Do you creep your cursor over to the scrollbar over about twenty seconds, click on it with your thumb, then drag it down with your finger while holding the button with your thumb and getting another 5 to 10% more progress towards carpal tunnel syndrome?

lol no. the middle button between the left and right click which has those little blue circles on it. hold that and move up and down with the trackpoint.

I was using trackpoint all the time on x230. On newer models touchpad is just superior, just using it occasionally for scrolling.

hold the middle button with your thumb while moving the trackpoint up/left/right/down
no need to move your hands at all from the keyboard home row like a retard using a touchpad

wooooah you can scroll?
You use two fingers to scroll on a trackpad, you fucking idiot

Attached: 96D40E68-591C-467C-8443-1A5E18640C87.jpg (1100x733, 119K)

>and getting another 5 to 10% more progress towards carpal tunnel syndrome?
Funny that you mention that because repetitive movement is only a thing if you're using a touchpad

imagine being this incapable of reading. he clearly just asked how you scroll without a trackpad, fucking autist. and yes I can scroll, as well as do anything else I would ever need to with a trackpad, except infinitely more efficiently.

>t. hasn't touched a clit in his entire life

Yes, I am sure a mini-joystick is better than a trackpad emulating mouse input

everything for the business experience right? Lmao

Which did you try?
Thinkpad trackpads are garbage and dont count

I don't see why it isn't better. It reduces the amount of movement in my hands which is more efficient while also providing all of the functionality of your shitty trackpad. The trackpad gives no real advantages, unless you can list some.

i've used the macshit if thats what you're asking, all the pc stuff blends together in a single pile of shit. they tend to have the hardware switch to disable it though.

That sounds a lot less agonising than the trackpoint on my HP. (There's no middle button.)

Sustained pressure in awkward positions =/= gliding two fingers over a touchpad. Though I'm starting to prefer key commands to point and click, because they're quicker and in more variable positions. Especially non-chordal commands.

>Sustained pressure
what pressure? you aren't supposed to apply any pressure hence why it has acceleration

Maybe you can remap it using something like AutoHotKey if you're on Windows.

They're great when you want to do things other than shitpost, consume paid content and view gay porn.

Greetings OP!

The track point serves a very useful purpose in that if one is wearing insulated gloves, the trackpoint offers an option to navigate the cursor in a situation where a conductive touch interface would not normally work.

It's comfy. You probably never used it before, or you just don't know how to touch type.

Imagine being this naive and young

i just like the nub

It's pretty handy hands don't leave the keyboard

t. Idiot that never used a thinkpad for more than 15 minutes
