GNU IceCat. You are using a GNU approved distro, right?

Nothing, it's all google shit now. FireFox with an edited about:config is probably your best bet, or TOR. GNU Icecat is decent too.

>firefox
>ad nauseum
the perfect middle ground between ease of use, compatibility, security updates, and privacy. The internet is a terrible place and if it pisses you off the solution is not to change browsers but to simply spend less time on the internet.

Yes Vivaldi is my Daily and Von Technigger is BASED

The correct answer is the alternate universe when Jow Forums successfully made its own browser from the leaked Opera 12 source code and made a modern browser with the presto engine

> a browser not based off chrome
> we almost had it ....

Internet Explorer. I like Edge too but I'm set in my way

brave

Have you heard of the high elves?

Stop using Windows.

And use what? An iMac?

Use a free OS.

Windows is free

Send me a modified copy of the source code, then.

you wouldn't know what to do with it, let alone understand it

Nice dodge, prakesh.

ungoogled chromium, it requires manual updates of the browser and extensions if you use any but it's worth it to escape the worst of google.

To what extent is it sacrilidge to continue using windows 7? There's no way is it as bad as 10, but I recognize that I'll need to switch to Linux since updates for 7 will end in 2020.

>To what extent is it sacrilidge to continue using windows 7?
Using 7 is just as bad as using 10.

Just switch to Linux now. Better yet, switch to your choice of BSD Unix.

>BSD
>Unix
These two are mutually exclusive.

>Using 7 is just as bad as using 10.
That's an exageration, at least with 7 you don't have to deal with the windows store, built in ads, or do nearly as much debloating. Granted I'm sure that I've either been backdoored or I missed purging some of the telemetry updates.

I'm planning on installing Linux on my laptop once I decide on a distro. After a month or so of hands on learning I might feel like less of a brainlet enough to consider switching my desktop's OS.

No? BSD is literally Unix. Everything derived from BSD is literally Unix.

anything other than chrome
even plain chromium is better

>BSD is literally Unix
Not according to Unix, since they sued the pants of BSD for it. Fucking tard.

i don't know what the rest of Jow Forums thinks but i believe that pale moon is the most based browser out there.

>proper fork of firefox 52 and devs are actually doing more than just rebranding and disabling stuff during build phase in mozconfig. (check UXP).
>has a majority of the useless junk removed from the original mozilla source.
>after disabling only 4-5 options in about:config it becomes not-malware based on privacy watchdog.
>most used addons are forked from their latest pre-webextensions release and updated.
>great customization options, the thing that made firefox famous in the first place.
>smaller cpu and especially ram usage compared to other browsers.

i'm not shilling, i've been on the look for a proper browser that wasn't a rebranded firefox or a gtkwebkit/qtwebkit/chromium based and the idea of an old and good firefox build with junk removed and kept up to date sounded really nice to me.

i've also copied the unofficial branding file and modified the file that adds the useragent override lines to the about:config during build phase and added the privacy watchdog suggested options there. also made changes to the default home so it's not startpage.com and enabled system libraries instead of making it build its own so when i build it, it comes at a state where it's pre-configured to my liking.

i don't know, i'd give it a try.

Not in my repos.

It's basically a fork of the Unix source code. That's as close as you're gonna get in a modern OS.

>It's basically a fork of the Unix source code
No it isn't. Part of the lawsuit was that they had to remove all of that. And that was nearly 30 years ago. At best it is a clone of Unix, just like GNU.

Didn't know that. That's fucking gay.

you can get the tarball from their site if it's not in your distro repos.

that pic makes me feel very sad with myself

Isn't ungoogled chromium the best now that Firefox is fucked?

>Ungoogled Googlium
Wew
>Firefox is fucked
Firefox was never good

why rely on just one browser, i keep 4 browsers installed

i use chromium for only google owned websites like google searches, gmail and youtube,

i use firefox for general purpose web browsing like Jow Forums, craigslist, slashdot, etc...

i use seamonkey when i need a browser with integrated email client

and last but not least i use icecat for porn

>now that Firefox is fucked
>now

Too bad there's only server tranny OS version.

Why is Firefox fucked, yes it's slow but it works fine

Is Dissenter worth getting or should one stick to Brave? Not sure if Dissenter will be as secure because I have no idea of the level of skill behind the people releasing it.

>common sense

Manifest V3 will fuck it as well
