Hi Jow Forums pic related is my rig, all is cool with it but since I got Total War WH2 I noticed struggle with this game and I though that after 4 years of solid duty it might be time for upgrade. But Im green when it comes to it so I wanted some advice how to do it in 3 steps. After I did some research I think that it will take me to change mobo if I want some better CPU.

Yes, you will need a new motherboard to upgrade the CPU.

Turn down the graphics options to minimum. Is your frame rate good then? If so, your CPU is fine for the game, but you need a more powerful GPU.
If the frame rate is still bad you do need a faster CPU.

TWHammer 2 is very much GPU bound at pretty much any res.

Though most benchmarks I can find use much newer more powerful CPUs (Like 2700x vs 8700k), so you may still be a bit CPU bound with an old FX series CPU, but in general totalwarhammer 2 is needing a better GPU to increase FPS.

Frame rate isnt bad but AI turns take a fuck ton of time and also loading times are big

Just throw a solid state drive in that bitch and the load times will be cut in half.

And if you have a Microcenter nearby, they always have good CPU motherboard combo deals.

The 8350's Cool nQuiet is broken as hell at idle, the temp is normally 22C or so when it's idling with the power saving features off.

FM2+ here. I'm pretty much stuck on this socket for a while, because:
1. I don't trust Intel
2. I already invested in several FM2 PCs
3. Performance is enough for most of the things that I do
4. Neither Ryzen nor current Intel processors support older OSes like 8.1 or 7
I guess AM3 is an option, but I currently don't need it.
