you can pull people's dotfiles, put them in place, restart your session and you're done. a little more complex than clicking a button if they don't have a shell script to do it for you though.

user, redpill me on FVWM. I've been using WindowMaker for many many years and I've been interested in it lately. It seems like it can do a lot.

Not that user, but you know how WindowMaker is pleasant and easy to configure?
fvwm is nothing like that at all and is a pain in the fucking dick to configure.

In exchange, it can do basically anything.
Seriously, visit the fvwm site's screenshot page, you can get it to look like anything with enough effort.

Thanks for the response, user.I imagine as long as the config is just in one file it shouldn't be too bad. My distro comes with both WindowMaker and FVWM out of the box so if I just have to move some config files it shouldn't be too bad once i have them drafted.

+ you can control it entirely via keyboard, there's also mouse gestures (I dunno how well it works I never tried)
+ as many independent workspaces as you want with as many pages as you want
+ super lightweight and about as snappy as windowmaker as far as i remember
+ varied looks, you can do flatshit or 3dshit, mixing both, maybe even picking random colors for every windows and make them blink or something. there's also a neat module to make bars/docks

- it's feature complete so the development is super slow and the forum is a ghost town. Fvwm 3.0 is in the talks since ~2016 but I have no idea how long it will take, I don't even know if they plan to support wayland
- my conf is like 800 lines im lost send help
- some quirks, like on my config dragging and dropping stuff accross pages doesn't work, although i dunno maybe im just doing it wrong
