ubuntu has managed to ruin the plumbing of debian in the same way trans folks do with their natural born gibbly bits. ubuntu works well enough to feel special which is exactly how trans interact in the world. there's also zero accountability as long as you're inclusive.
so use ubuntu
far as language? that will be a tough one. unfortunately the world of programming adheres to reality and accepts that things need to be binary. you could get all of the coc adopters to help create a new language that never throws errors, never worries about XOR because that's phobic/ist to objects.
maybe learn C while working on gentoo and discover your world views are needing adjusting.

Depends on what you're trying do.
Gentoo, Debian, Arch, and Fedora are all great Linux/{not-,}systemd/GNU distros, but they aren't necessarily intended for the same range of use cases.
Likewise, programming languages are just tools, so while just using what you know best can certainly work, ideally you'd use something well-suited for the task at hand if time permits.
