You already know the answer is tr-x00, whatever wood you want.

They have such a good frequency respond, jesus. Mids are little bit boosted. Also kinda comfy.
i didnt luck out at all i dont think i cant use these with my phone but i guess they're not supposed to be used with phones?

At what point do i need a dedicated amp? 32 ohm? 80 ohm?

That's not how it works. First, power requirements are also determined by sensitivity, not just impedance. Second, you mostly need an amp for quality, not for power. Making a powerful headphone amp is not expensive in any way and probably your mobo has more than enough power for almost anything. So, the question whether you need an amp (and also a dac) comes down to how good your heaphones are. If over 100$ you should already start looking at some cheap combo.
Jose Stewart
>At what point do i need a dedicated amp?
It depends very little on impedance, and more on sensitivity. That being said, good, dedidcated amps aren't only for "higher volume", but also for better resolving, dynamics and less compression.
So, I'd recommend an amp for anything with less than 100 dB/mW, or anything above a Sennheiser HD25

I recently got HD660s and now I want to fall for the Stax meme. Should I do it bros?

Whatever you decide to buy, unless you can make profit from selling those, just send the trash back.

>tfw just learned that, in order to sell vegan pads, at some point Audeze required buyers to prove they owned one of their headphones, and then later straight stopped making them, since people were buying them to add to their modded M1060's That's some next level coping. Top kek, that pajeet asked 100 for the pads alone, which are FUCKING GLUED, and thousands for the headphones themselves. Seething shitskin

Trying to help pops find some new headphones, he plays the electric bass so I'm not sure if a biased sound signature would benefit him or not. I suggested the Sony MDR-7506 just because I think they're pretty good for the price, asking if anyone has a better suggestion thnx.
what's Jow Forumss thought on Sony Mdr-cd900st ? I don't listen to many songs with beats, but some with semi-ok bass lots of female vocals too. i was thinking about picking up a set and a good amp
Topping D70 coming soon. Now just have to wait for that fucking THX 789 AAA to become available and I will be done with this stupid hobby

Poor uni student here, please help me out. I‘m looking for a pair of headphones for classical music on a budget. They should be easy to drive without an amp and be as light and comfortable as possible. I thought the HD599 would be nice, but people claim they aren’t and the HD579 are 200€. The HD559 would be 66€ right now, but I‘m not sure they are good enough to really enjoy classical music. Haven’t tried any of them yet.
>Budget 130-150€ max. the cheaper the better >Source Dell laptop or iphone se without an amp >Type of headphone Over-Ear >Open or closed Open >Comfort level as high as possible ofcourse >Sound signature Neutral or warm? Figured I'd ask people who know more about quality headphones than I do. Please let me what you think would be a good pick. Thanks.
that's a lot of money, consider a pair of speakers instead if your living arrangements allow for it if you have a store nearby you, or if you're able to attend some headphone meets, you'll be able to sample more headphones and be better able to tell what sort of sound you like (warm versus clinical etc) that being said, the three brands to consider if you're looking at open backs are Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic and AKG. If you want to have closed backs Beyer does some of those too, and Beyers are usually touted as being one of the most comfortable brands in the market DT770s with a great amp might suit you but you'll really have to see if a little bit of treble is okay with you, as are most of the "studio-styled" headphones
in short consider speakers consider open backs from senn, beyer, akg consider DT770s with great amp look at other brands like fostex denon sony etc

I learned that bass is just good for depth and it's very good not being nigger tier boosted. It's good for kicks and atmosphere also depends on the headphones :3
yeah don’t mind me, idk anything about sound signatures

Neutral is also good for classical. Neutral then, I get you a neutral headphones very soon.

>inb4 second anything all my AKGs were secondhands and were fairly well taken care of except the one guy who didn't say that he was a smoker for my K601s otherwise I've been very happy with my purchases
if you want anything from AKG sennheiser or beyer, look at trying them from owners then buying instead of just shipping it straight

Does anyone get itchy ears from wearing headphones? My ears get itchy from my bose headphones. The pads trap all the moisture in, which creates a humid environment in the cans which can't be great for hygeine. I have tried vacuuming the foam pads. Heating them with a hair dryer to kill any bacteria. Better, but still itchy though.

clean your headphones, and don't worry about giving your pads a thorough clean if you're using velour pads, or a good wipe if you're using leather/pleather you'd probably wanna clean your ears every now and then too
check out beyerdynamic DT 770s-990s, maybe the newer 1770-1990s if you're inclined denon higher end sonys
best to try out a pair or two in stores first if you have the time to see whether you're keen on closed. Don't yolo like I did when I went ahead and bought the 177x GOs

Regarding the budget, a $150 headphone is fine too. It doesn't have to be $300.
Chase Cooper
tr-x00 goes deep on 20hz? Do they make your head move? If it's between that then it's fine. Also when it come for heavy electronic music the bass really goes deep?

koss that cheap philips pair I can't remember the name of now
alt option save a bit more, get a secondhand open pair like akg or senn or beyer
Yes, you got memed. The DT770 is a good headphone, the 599 should be considered a sidegrade at best. You needed to go into the 600 series to get something actually 'better', but even then you might consider it worse because no matter what you're going to be losing quite a bit of bass and moving away from that v-shaped sig that you probably like or are at least used to. That said, running from a soundcard probably isn't helping any, but don't expect it to absolutely transform the sound of your headphone If you don't like the 599, get rid of them and look for something else. the dt990 is probably the natural place to go if you liked the dt770 and you wanted an open headphone.
What if I want isolation at home but I dislike the comfort of IEMs? Having pressure pushing into my ear canal just feels unnatural desu, I tried the se215 special edition 5 or 6 years ago and I absolutely hated the way the feel no matter what size tip I used. Maybe I should try and entry level custom iem? I still have my doubts about having something actually in my ear, but maybe if there's no pressure and it's just a snug fit I'd be OK with it.
who /tinnitus/ here i have a ring around 800hz in my left ear
Colton Collins
I have some very mild ongoing tinnitus from a show I went to 8 years ago, however this year I've had a sudden onset of much louder ringing in just my right ear, and I haven't been exposed to any loud noises or anything. I'm going to get my ears cleaned soon, hopefully that solves it.
