Why is EU so bad at creating tech companies in comparison to USA or China / Japan? Pic related, frankly pathetic
Why is EU so bad at creating tech companies in comparison to USA or China / Japan? Pic related, frankly pathetic
More regulations.
The EU will sue you for literal any sign of a monopoly or market dominance, legit or otherwise.
this
so they just extort american tech companies because voters don't mind
European society values liberal arts over technology.
that can't be right, EU as a whole has a lot of huge companies like Volkswagon, Airbus or Shell. They just seem to be lacking in the tech department
Even breathing has a 25% tax on it, the conditions are horrible for starting and running a business here. Also this
...
Yuropoors spend more time on vacation than they do working.
They're an inherently lazy people.
The financial industry is huge in Europe especially the UK. The majority of top tier STEM talents will get jobs in financial services firms not pure technology firms. The industry is so all consuming my friends with biology degrees from my top tier university wound up working in financial services let alone the engineering grads let alone the comp Sci grads. This leaves little talent to go into pure technology roles let alone pure technology firms.
Lol that's all just consumer shit. It's missing all the B2B companies. Ever heard of SAP? Who do you think is supplying all the 5G equipment now that Huawei is out of the picture?

Keeping big companies alive just to look like competing is just wrong.
it's all they can't point to
amerilards like to bash google, facebook, etc. but get extra pissy when johnny foreigner does it
Pretty sure every country in the world has the "it's okay when we make fun of it, but not you" mindset.
For example: whenever the EU does something controversial, Jow Forums goes from anti-EU to "SEETHING mutts are jealous of based EU"
thank fuck i stay away from that place
>UK
>Just-eat
nah bro nah
a shame
the financial industry does so little when it comes to contributing to the progress of human civilization
This. Only cucks get paid vacations for a quarter of the year.
Kek. Enjoy slaving away in cubicle land while I'm taking pictures on a nude beach in Spain.
>another bait thread
The absolute state of this shithole
you fags always say this but you ignore the correct answers.
>skype, spotify, minecraft, king, rovio
litterally the biggest things in their respective industries globally, anything that has potential gets bought over by the west, that's why you don't associate these technologies with europe.
>deliveroo, trivago, zalando, takeaway
very huge in specific countries, bigger than the big competitors, they mean a lot to millions of people and are only effective within those countries, expanding globally would be retarded.
>only listing consumer services brands
you do know that europe is way better technology wise than any other place in the field of business to business, right? also, you do know that europe still has the old tech giants like siemens, philips, etc?
stop being a faggot and try to spin a narrative that isn't correct, retard.
studies have shown europeans work more on average compared to most other countries.
europes tech scene is a joke in comparison compared to the USA
i don't see any refutals, you're just stating an opinion without showing why you think that.
>UK has 66 mil pop
>France 67 mil
>Germany 83 mil
>...
>Sweden 10 mil
>Finland 5 mil
Pretty big disparity there.
>All those companies that are listed
>tech
>All those companies that arent listed
>not tech
Yeah nah, we just didnt fall for the customized toilet paper search engine and online shop start up meme, which are also not technology but retard bait.
number of relevant european start ups: 0
But this doesn't include other non-consumer tech giants such as ASML with a net worth of around 10b and a 67% marketshare.
Number of examples for your point you gave: also 0.
rights for workers, taxes, lawsuits, all the things that keep the law above all and make billionaires disgusted
Beurocrats and dumb regulations.
>no SAP
>no Siemens
>no Nokia
>no Ericsson
>no ARM
shit image
Stupid user companies like ARM arent technology.
Technology is only some shitty that runs a website that allows you to consume. Now consume consume consume.
t. amerimutt
USA makes consumer products. EU makes production equipment. Your CPU was made using EU equipment.
europe has two main spots where there's tons of startups: dublin and berlin. you're probably not from europe or those regions so you don't know about that. there's thousands of european startups there, but in most cases, again, if they hold anything useful they get bought over by the big western tech giants anr their original name will be lost with their originating locales. you're just a retard.
Skype was company from baltic country Estonia untill Microsoft bought it and fucked it up.
Income inequality is nowhere near as bad in Europe as in the USA. It's still a problem in Europe, but in the USA you can point to these hugely wealthy CEOs and businesses, but also the millions of working poor.
Basically conditions in the US are great if you can make it to the top 1%. Otherwise, they are not so great. Same goes for businesses.
What's defined as tech here?
Looking at those it looks like the silicon valley skew.
Only the least important tech in the world.
>europe's tech giants
>mojang
Holy shit.
>entire thread just presumes its bad
Based on what?
With what this is measuring. I'm not all that proud of this.
mojang has the second most popular game of all time.
Skype outsourced their development of the backend to Estonia.
It got created by a Swede and a Dane who later sold it to ebay.
They sold it, and it was one hit wonder from Notch (who lives in US now).
It's like calling the people who made PUBG a tech giant.
tech giant = web x.0 bloaters
they are just like decaying corpses only filled with fetid air.
they did not sell minecraft. notch sold mojang to microsoft. microsoft owns mojang an mojang owns minecraft.
Based
have a (You)
vw has a lot of competition from fiat group
airbus has no competition anyways never had
shell has a lot of competition
the problem is the fact that europe actually taxes you
and wants a diversified market
Most retarded tech list ever, a lot of these companies are clothing and home ware resellers, they got nothing to do with tech.
>Avito
Does it even count as an Euro company when all the staff and operations are in Russia?
>tech
>literally only mobile apps
Shit infographics, it would be like saying the only tech companies in the us are Facebook, Twitter, and groupon
>Native Instruments
>Image-Line
Some of the biggest music technology giants and standards are from Europe.
The UK is not Europe.
No, but it is in Europe.
The UK is part of Europe. The UK won't be a part of the EU anymore. But it will still be a part of Europe, including the Council of Europe.
China and USA is simply way more corrupt
He was being sarcastic
>taxes
>regulations
>burocracy
>lower wages
Why would a smart european stay in europe to earn jackshit
Stupid consumer protection laws and fuckload of regulations
Avito is russian
this desu
Seems like a bullshit infograph. Why isn't SAP in it with a market cap of 160b. Do they not count as tech company?
Europe has a mroe diverse market with mroe regulations which means they can't just have one company explode and appeal to everybody. This is why most major European hardware companies died a long time ago, and software became the main focus. Most euros go to work on the US and the only other major areas of industry are easy Asian which have their own unique shit going for them.
You can send your children to school without fear of them being shot would be a good motivator I guess.
united kingdom best kingdom, we are better than some shitty states that united together, we are a fucking kingdom, not just a shitty collection of pathetic states,
And that horrible socialist health care too. Grrr.
And the annual holidays.
Where is ST Microelectronics in that picture?
And how are Avito, Takeaway.com, Trivago, Bla Bla Car etc. "tech giants"?
>Most euros go to work on the US
this is what I've seen, the really skilled workers in europe tend to just go to america where there's already easy money to be made instead of scrounging around in europe
Their functional privacy laws and higher wages make it a less attractive prospect
What regulations in particular? Anti monopoly laws? Anti wage slavery laws? Workplace safety regulations? Taxation that isn't riddled with loopholes?
make the same chart with car companies
>Taxation that isn't riddled with loopholes?
Most US companies that operate in Europe park themselves in Ireland because of it's low tax rates. Allowing them to operate in Europe and pay fuck all tax. It's one of the biggest tax loop holes they have. And Apple is the most famous for using it and what made it the richest company ever at one point. Meanwhile Amazon paid less than 2 million in tax on 72 million profits in the UK, while Starbucks European unit paid less than 3% tax. And it's the same all across Europe with company lawyers and financial units looking to get as many tax breaks as possible for their bosses as they can.
The idea that companies pay the tax they should is laughable. They pay the tax they can get away with.
>UK
>Europe
You're making this thread every single week.
Reminder that the EU is not a country, despite what the media told you.
they're clearly not diverse enough
