>State budget & CURRENCY
>Post at least some attempt at a parts list
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing:
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>R3 2200G - Recommended minimum gaming
>R5 2600 - Good gaming CPU with great value
>R7 1700X - Budget rendering
>For extreme performance in FPS, rendering, or multicore workloads, wait for benchmarks on 7/7.

RAM:
>Always choose at least a two stick kit; 2x 8GB is recommended
>CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3200CL16 is ideal
>AMD B and X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP

Graphics cards based on current pricing:
>Used cards can be had for a steal; inquire about warranty
1080p
>RX 570 8GB - good performance with great value
>GTX 1660 - standard
>RTX 2060 - high framerates (requires complementary CPU and monitor)
1440p
>Wait for benchmarks on 7/7
2160p (4K)
>Wait for benchmarks on 7/7
>RTX 2080Ti - best fit for 4K but expensive

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>Don't bother buying a new monitor for gaming unless it's high refresh with adaptive sync
>A 256GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor
>Bottleneck checkers are worthless

Now that I've fixed my parts list, will this hardware be sufficient for the monitor I've chosen?

750w enough for a 2080 ti and 3900x overclocking?

I am frugal as fuck and only want the best value CPU when I upgrade.

Should I get 3600 or splurge for 3700x to get the extra 2 cores, which might make the CPU relevant for an extra year or two?

I forgot to mention I am holding out until the 3k series comes out and using the 2600x as a placeholder

Both are good investments. Depends how much you're putting into the rest of the build and how the jump in price compares to total cost.

I am going to be selling my PC, what should I do regarding Windows?
Should I install it and turn PC off when it's done and let them activate it, not install anything at all and just wipe drive, etc.? Do people expect PC's to have activated Windows on them?

I can't wait for these new AMD parts to come out, so I can witness the absolute failure they will be. I will take joy reading through all the butthurt poorfag troubleshoot threads. That is what you get trying to be patrician on a pleb budget. AMD will drop the ball, as they usually do.

Fair warning.

This site is good for checking CPU/GPU combos.

If you are getting a 3600x then just assume that the FPS on all the games will be ~10% higher than listed for the 2600x.

I'd go 3700x, 8 cores plus only 65 TDP is nice.

Reminder to get in early on the one true crypto currency of the future.

Pi Coin was developed by Stanford PhDs and instructors who have simplified crypto into a user friendly app that will be the first true mass adopted crypto. If this is news to you, you probably already missed the Bitcoin gravy train, you don't want to miss this one. We're gonna make it /pcbg/.

Bitcoin and other coins are a meme and will NEVER see widespread use because of their autism 1337 hax0r technical bullshit just to create a wallet and heavy computational requirements just to send coins. Pi Coin fixes this fundamental flaw by making mining based on user activity (daily check in) rather than computation power, so this runs on your phone with almost no power impact.
You NEED to get in while mining rates are high, as they will be halved very soon when user adoption spikes.

Currently Pi Coin is invite only, so an invitation code is required to sign up, feel free to use mine:

Go for a slightly more expensive SU800 ADATA drive, and go with SeaSonic FOCUS Gold for the PSU. Otherwise, yeah that's a good part list for that monitor.

Need some help picking a monitor, primarily for digital art but also heavy gaming.
Even just listing a good brand to go with would be helpful. I've always been bad about picking up shitty Bestbuy monitors that aren't good for anything.

Budget: No limit, though I'd prefer not to go over $350-$400 per panel.
Setup: i7 8700k/32gb ram/Nvidia RTX 2070 8gb

Top Priority list:
>1440p
>Good color calibration for digital art
>72hz min, 144hz max

Wants, not really needs though:
>27 inch preferably
>Vesa mountable

Soo is PCIe 4.0 going to be a big jump for graphics cards? I don't really see too much hype around it

Great, thank you

anyone here travel with their PCs? whats the procedure for going through an airport with it?

why do I have to do all that for US travel? do they ask you to turn it on and log incor something?

current gen cards, not really.
the big thing in the near term is going to be the NVMe SSDs designed with it in mind. a massive r/w speed boost.

New to PC building and my last part is a GPU. I'm looking into buying a used GPU, more specifically this one ebay.com/itm/GIGABYTE-GAMING-RX570-8GB-GRAPHIC-VIDEO-CARD-VGC-QTY-AVAIL/183860968933?hash=item2acef7bde5 . What's the verdict on used graphics cards? Does this one look reliable?

i am proud to announce oyvey v2 the now uses the x370 pro which is $50 brand new now
>slightly more expensive memory
>RAM is sometimes cheaper on ebay though prices have not been good this time of week
>ignore "Inland Professional" the one you want is actually "Inland Premium" which is faster
>case has been removed because the mobo is now full ATX and there are no $20 boxes on PCPP. Pick whatever cheap box you want, use nothing or DIY your own case
>PSU changed to an EVGA 500W bronze. This is mostly a placeholder, use the best cheapest thing you can get for $30 on ebay

quick notes
>CPU/MOBO bundle requires having a local microcenter
>you can get an even better deal on the mobo if your microcenter allows the -$30 bundle deal on open box motherboards
>RAM almost never breaks, feel free to buy second-hand
>picked a 256GB SSD in the spirit of sticking to budget, upgrade to the 512GB model if you need it
>add a 1TB hard drive if you want to go over budget

Rate my absolute poverty build (prices converted from my third world currency to burger bux)

CPU: used i5-3470, $51
GPU: used (probably former mining card) RX 570 4GB, $72
PSU: some used 700W Zalman, $25
RAM: 2x8GB DDR3-1600 kingston valueram, $65
mobo: already have an H61, coming from a pentium G645
monitor: some used 22" 1080p TN jap monitor, $45
total: $258

Absolutely happy with it. It runs Metro Exodus 1080p60 on Ultra, tessellation off. Advanced PhysX gives me serious dips, though.
Pathologic 2 I don't understand. Framerates hover around 40-60 while GPU and CPU util is around 60-80% and 50-70% respectively.
I could've also copped a freesync monitor, but I don't know any good ones within my budget.
Also looking for an SSD, at least 250GB that fits the poverty build in mind. Are used ones a good buy?

i bought a powercolor rx 580 from that seller. he claimed those cards were not mined on by him which is probably true. my card was a direct refurb from powercolor and i rank mine A- condition. looks brand new unless you're 6 inches away.

try getting an rx580 from the seller i mentioned

>tfw living in Phoenix
I basically have to clean my PC out every week. There is just no way to stop the never ending amount of dust building up.

use a clean, isolated room with only air-conditioning, only allowing air in once every 5-7 days

Perfect indie runner.

Upgrade to watercooling and clean your room more often.

Dust is typically a bunch of skin and hair particles, consider extra scrubbing and daily showers. Not to mention cloth switch more often.

Please listen to this guy It might open up some options for devs, but in general it wont be noticeably beneficial for us plebs in the near future.

Trolling aside I don't particularly like AMD because of bad past experiences with them, but I still want them to succeed. Them having success means Intel has to get off their ass. It's a win win for consumers.

I'm guessing mining is a no go if you're looking at used GPUs? I should probably mention what else I have in my build. CPU: Ryzen 5 2600, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 3200 8GBx2, PSU: Corsair CX 650W, Motherboard: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon. I just wanted to build something good enough to play games like MH:World.

Meant to say also, if the RX 570 8GB I linked isn't a good option, does anyone have a recommendation? My budget for the GPU is $140 and I don't mind used.

mining GPUs are actually pretty good because miners treat them well to protect their ROI. usually just an undervolt and a memory OC, sometimes flashed vbios with better timings.

it's simple math. if you can buy about 2 used GPUs for the price of a new one you're very unlikely to lose out. ebay will let you return things within reasonable time so if don't get a DOA it will probably work for years. card still having a warranty is just a bonus.

a lot of GPU failures are just old fans not spinning anymore, factor in $5-$10 to repair yourself if there's no warranty

my card is basically brand new i don't even care if it breaks it was cheap

You can find used RX 580 for $140.

Is your card that powercolor 580? because I'm thinking of going for it.

in case you didn't read click here and offer somewhere in the $100-$110 range
ebay.com/itm/RX-580-8GB-GDDR5-PowerColor-Red-Devil-Radeon-Mint-Condition/303161890362
these look like the same refurbs going around, they have completely new fans

What is the best motherboard for use with the 3900x? Best PCIe 4.0 SSD available on release?
Price isn’t a factor unless we’re talking stupid numbers, I want the best.

Oh, yeah I accidently skipped over that. Thanks for the advice. I think I will go with this one.

don't know anything about x570 but on x470 the crosshair VII hero is very good. personally i think $250 is pretty stupid.

Any chance that amd is going to send boot kits for the 3000 series?

Is it worth having 32gb if RAM? I already have 16 gigs but RAM is so cheap now I could get another 16 gigs.

Only looking for X570. Stupid money for me is above 300 for a component that isn’t cpu.
Brand new build brand new parts being built for the next 5-7 years.
PCIe 4.0 SSDs guys?

At least in my country you can ask your retailer to flash the bios before shipping.

You can snag a crosshair VII on Amazon warehouse for around $200ish. Pretty good deal on arguably the best x470 board.

Depends, if you only play gaymes at below 4k, 16gb will be just fine.

If you have to ask you don't need it and RAM will just get cheaper and cheaper

what if I have 15 million chrome tabs open and I stream

Then check your RAM usage and if it's almost full go buy some more, simple as that.

Looking for X570 not 470.

What PCIe 4 SSDs are available on new Ryzen launch?

1 last question and this might be a stupid one. I read online about reapplying thermal paste to used graphics cards. Will I have to with this one?

>Crypto prices rising again
Are we going to get a repeat of 2 years ago and have every budget GPU going for $200 above MSRP because of fucking miners?

Attached: FB0B8A1E-CAA7-4A91-BE91-078AAE9804C5.jpg (1024x576, 64K)

but here's the thing nobody actually needs an x470 board when good x370s exist. the only official difference is StoreMI support. memory support is mostly the memory controller in the CPU so if you buy a zen2 who cares lmao
>x370 crosshair vi hero
>$150 brand new on sale
>somewhere between $100-$150 as a refurb
>8 pretty good phases

>x370 prime

you don't have to but you could. these refurbs have the fans replaced so someone at powercolor already opened them and did servicing. has brand new warranty void sticker on the screws.

Only two controllers from Phison at launch. Wait for others, especially Samsung

Have already been waiting, delayed an Intel x series build for 2 months to wait for zen 2. Won’t wait more. If benchmarks arnt stellar then will be going Intel and evo 970’s. If they are good will be Ryzen and 4.0 SSDs.

You don't. That user just has child porn or some shit.

That's good to hear, thanks again user.

Found a nice image

Attached: pcie-gen4-gaming-impat[1].png (1158x624, 140K)

Any of those SSDs will outperform the 970 Evo. Read the specs, man

I mean the new Ryzen benchmarks. The Intel’s don’t support 4.0 so the evo is the Intel option if the Ryzen doesn’t live up to hype.

Can. Not. Wait.

What's your use case, and why do you think Intel is even an option at current pricing?

Samsung C32HG70 (or get the C27)
It's not IPS, but the QLED gives it quite the natural color reproduction. It's not poppy like IPS, but pretty darn accurate.

Wait for a week nigger.

So my young brother wants to jump into PC gaming. He used PS4 until now, but is not quite happy with things.
He wants a cheap PC to start with (budget 500 Euros).
I already tried a config, but am happy to get your opnions on this build.

Attached: Screenshot_20190701-085239_Chrome.jpg (804x2907, 817K)

Because within the limits of performance and cost Intel is fine I’m not a poor man struggling to save bux. However I would prefer to use Ryzen because of reasons. I have spoken to my main workload program manufacturer and they have confirmed that their software is in no way inhibited by AMD. So it’s time to go red, unless the benchmarks don’t out do the high end Intel chips. I don’t care who I buy I will buy the best on 8/7.
I’ll be using a case that fit my needs with lots of space I don’t care which I will never see it beyond the urning it on.

>His video card streams data through pcie to the monitor
Wtf is this shit?

You're overspending on the case, if using a dedicated GPU you should get a better CPU, r5 1600 at least. GPU seems a bit overpriced for a 570.

Get better PSU.

Ryzen 3200G is replacing the 2200G on 7/7. Slightly faster for the same price. If you could find discounted 2400G for not much more after 7/7, I'd say it's worth it

Holy shit have ram prices crashed or what? The 16gz trident z kit is selling for exactly half of what I paid last year

you got scammed just like I did, rip

Also lol I now re read the post was about use case not what case will you use.
The use case is intense audio processing. UAD and PA ha e confirmed to me that Their products are not inhibited by anything other than Intel, which is contrary to their website (idk why they even mention it if it’s not true wtf) which leaves AMDs £500 cpu directly rivalling Intel’s £1200 equivalent. I am not a poor man but that is money for other gear and room treatment.
Also when I said I can. Not. Wait. I was referring to being super excited not impatient.
I realise now how much of an asshole I come across as

they rarely mine em on GPUs these days

>from an official thermaltake staff member

@everyone
Hey you awesome bunch!
I actually need some help... I've gotten the green light to build two new video editing rigs for the office (can i get a whoop whoop!)
So now begins the fun, but I'm wondering about storage - does anybody know if an M.2 drive is faster than an SSD when it comes to reading and writing?

I'm thinking about going a m.2 drive for the OS and for our video editing program of choice (Premiere) while having a 2tb SSD to hold our current projects.
Does that sound like a good idea or should I go vice versa, or something completely different?

---

these guys are fucking clueless holy shit

M.2 is just a format, there are SATA M.2 drives out there. You want NVMe M.2 if you want something faster than SATA SSDs.

Goddammit

Thanks for the retweet!

>Good color calibration
>1440p, 144 Hz
>Not too expensive
Pick any two.
The way I understand it there is a trade-off in monitors between response time and color quality.
So if you want both things at once I think you'll need to pay more than just $400.

Get a 3200G on 7/7, get a cheaper case like the Focus G and get a used RX 580.

really? wow no shit

So I was going to get all the stuff yesterday excepto for the CPU, but I waited until today and the mobo and CPU I wanted have gone down for like 10€ each (B450 Mortar 85€ and 2600 131€ are the current prices), coupled with a 580 strix 140€ (second hand). I think I won't get any lower prices even if I wait until the 7th of July. This PC will be for my gf, I am getting a 3700x this 7th.

Would buying 2x16GB and 2x8GB of RAM cause me any issues as long as the brand and the rest of the specs match?

Will 2060 super match 2070 performance?

Let me just get my time machine

When your in your time machine, can you see if the 3600 beats a 8700k in IPC? Thanks.
