Raspberry Pi vs Arduino

Which one is better and why?

They are completely different things.

fpbp

What the fuck?
depends on what you are doing
are you going to set a thermocouple and moisture detector to water your Roses on regular intervals?
Arduino
Are you going to make a little monitor that plays spongebob seasons 1 - 3 on repeat till the end of time?
Pi

Raspi is a full featured ARM mini PC, Arudino is a microcontroller: they are different tools for different purposes and should not be compared.

Unless you are a tech illiterate normalfag or söygoy who doesn't know what the fuck he is doing.

Why did you even make this thread? If you want to get into either of those but don't know which, it's clear that you don't even know what they do. Start by reading a book and get outside of this fine site.

Arduinos are easy-mode prototyping kits for DIY electronics, you just burn your embedded software into a one-time use microcontroller IC once you're ready to put it into production.
It's meant for projects that use 8-bit simple microcontrollers, like controlling a set of electric motors on a motorized robot.

A raspberry pi shares some of the same features, but it's meant for shoving a general purpose programmable linux computer into your DIY projects for a measly $10.
With a raspi, you could easily add network connectivity and control your motorized robot using a high level scripting language instead of reinventing the wheel or your own networking stack.

>normie makes a thread about something he has no fucking clue about
why not spend 10 minutes reading first

Leafblower vs Vacuum cleaner.
Which one is better and why?

This.
Even needing to ask this question makes it obvious that you don't need either. Don't be one of those consumer retards who buy a microcontroller or a Pi and just sticks it in to a drawer after a day.

apples vs oranges

the pi is it's own pc that can be used for some things an arduino can
arduino is scripts only and cannot multitask well.
They are cheaper and smaller though.

yes

The spurdo thread was better than this.

they make arduinos that go on top of a raspberry pi...

Leafblower, obviously.

Vacuums suck at blowing, so it depends on your use case.

Arduino is a device created to control sensors and actuators. It is a computer, yes, but focused on controlling physical processes.

Rasperry PI is a computer in the sense that you imagine it.

>raspberry pi 4 shilling gets to me so I want to order one
>it’s out of stock on all the listed US stores except Okdo
>order it
>order confirmed, shipment confirmation
>week passes
>no arrival or new info
>shipping number doesn’t do anything, and their order tracking system is fucked
>also despite being listed as a US seller it’s actually based in the U.K. is shipments take that much longer
mfw spoiled by free 2day shipping and can’t handle the wait

Raspbian and it's community guarantee RasPi superiority when it comes to mini desktop and mini server. RPi4's improved ehternet and RAM all but solidifies that position.

Arduino is probably superior if you want to build gizmos

Which better the remote or the TV?

:^)

heh, my raspberry pi took 4 months to arrive from launch date, it was also an OG RPi, back when only a few magazines talked about it and I pre-ordered it.

>Raspbian
Is shit, armbian has all of the benefits with none of the cons of raspbian and wider support.
