Snipping Tool:

Snipping Tool:
>loads in milliseconds
>has everything I need
>can't crop, but you can just use paint.net for that
Microsoft® Snip & Sketch™:
>takes almost one second to load
>can't even snip a window
>has a crop tool but it sucks
>has a ruler but you can't rotate it, at least not with a mouse & keyboard
>has a privacy policy, i.e. probably sends all my screenshots to Microsoft
Why do they keep doing this?

>screen sketch (pre 2018 win10)
>takes full screen screenshot
>zooms it out a bit so you can see it fully and draw everywhere

>snip & sketch
>take full screen screenshot
>zoom is 1:1, can't zoom out
>have to use scroll bars to navigate your screenshot to draw

because microsoft doesn't think when they let two month interns slap a new app together

At this point it is just software "engineers" justifying their position at the company by showing their boss' that they are actually doing something even if it means breaking and repairing something that never needed to be repaired.
Literally parasites

>find the "send feedback" option
>maybe Microsoft doesn't know this thing sucks, I should tell them
>"you'll need an app to handle this windows-feedback"
>whatever, click on the only option
>wait for the Microsoft® Store™ to load
>brings up a search window with one result, the Microsoft® Feedback Hub™
>whatever, click on the only option
>wait for the application page to pop up
>click "Install"
>some shit flashes around
>pop up asks me whether or not I want to sign in with my Microsoft® account
>no
>back to the application page
>install button is in another position, click it again
>something pops up
>twiddle thumbs waiting for it to load
>it's a webview asking me to sign in to my Microsoft® account in order to install the app
>close it
>app installs anyway, whatever
>go back to Snip & Sketch™
>click "send feedback"
>Feedback Hub™ pops up, loads for a while
>tells me my telemetry level is too low and I should raise it if I want to send feedback
Fucking hell.

>>takes almost one second to load
Not on my PC
>>can't even snip a window
Yes it can, win+shift+S (or New), third button from the left
>>has a crop tool but it sucks
>>has a ruler but you can't rotate it, at least not with a mouse & keyboard
So use paint.net like you would with Snipping Tool, which also can't do these things

scrot '%d-%m-%Y_%H:%M:%S.jpg' -e 'mv $f ~/Screenshots/'
mapped to ctrl+print scr

Now that I read more carefully:
>>>has a ruler but you can't rotate it, at least not with a mouse
You can with the mouse wheel, which is kind of stupid but there you go

I just use the Print Screen key and paste the result in Microsoft Paint so I can save and edit it.

I don't have that button. I suppose they added it in a later version, one that isn't getting rolled out for SAC users yet?
Triggering it with Win-Shift-S (or Print Screen, I guess) is pretty fast though. I retract my complaint.
Thanks, that makes more sense. Could have sworn I tried the wheel.

It's in ease in use or something. Google enable printscreen button.

new, palette (?), copy, fullscreen, close
did i get it right? what's the second button? why do we now have such ambiguous icons?

>not just using WinKey+PrtScr

It's free-form selection. I don't know why the fuck they figured this was more important than the ability to take screenshots of windows.

You can do that in 1903 which is why I already stop using share-x.

>Microsoft®
Found your problem

can't take a screnshot of your full display and show it fully without having to use scroll bars to navigate while you're supposed to annotate it

>PrtSc
>WIN+R
>mspaint
>CTRL+V
>Adjust accordingly
>CTRL+S
...Snipping tool? Are you legitimately some sub 70IQ faggot?

Well, think about it this way. If you were building an application to take screenshots, what would the most important features of it be?
>take a full-screen shot
>take a screenshot of a window
>take a screenshot of a rectangle
That's it. Crop, annotations, free-form screenshots, etc., those are all bells and whistles that you can maybe add later. I cannot understand how anyone can build an application for taking screenshots with a dozen gimmicky features but forget window selection.

Rectangle, freeform, window, full screen, close.

If you press Win+Print scr you save a screenshot in \Pictures\Screenshots, if you press Alt+Win+Print scr you save the current window.

>focus window
>alt+PrtSc
>WIN+R
>mspaint
>CTRL+V
>CTRL+S
Same number of steps but much faster and no need to "adjust accordingly".

Well at least you can do that already. That's the most important part. Don't tell me you're that guy who fell for LTSC meme.

Can't tell if that's real or not, hilarious either way

>WIN+R
>mspaint
Or, just anchor MsPaint to the taskbar at the Nth position (let's say 3rd) and then hit Win+3.

You can use Snip & Sketch and then directly ctrl+v on some websites like Jow Forums
Go ahead, try it.

wow windows+prtsc saves it directly to a file, starting from windows 8.
windows 7 kids won't have that luxury, sad!

Pro tip: you can also write a different name for the file straight from the bar so nobody knows of your crime

how about something that can take scrolling screenshots like firefox?

The Apple Macbook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

>cmd+shift+3
