Is this why I keep on getting cloudflare errors on Jow Forums with every other post attempt?

I'm thinking Iran. I work with a dude who has a nephew in the reserves doing whatever they call cyber-warfare. He told me his nephew had been called into duty weeks before any of this recent crap with Iran happened. Then,suddenly we have a bunch of fishy shit going on and reports that the US is waging a cyber attack on Iran. Unless the government has psychics working for them, I'm gonna have to conclude that there's a lot of things we aren't being told.

It was just something brought in casual conversation during break and given the situation with China at the time, my first assumption was that it had something to do with China. But like I said, a couple of weeks later the government announced it's attack on Iran, supposedly in retaliation for the drone getting shot down. I'm sure the truth will come out eventually. You can't really hide things when reservists are called into duty.

I really don't think you can determine the source of the attack based on the devices involved. If I had to guess who is responsible based on the OP's map, I'd guess either Iran or Russia, because those countries have a suspiciously low number of attacks coming from them. Either one of them probably have enormous armies of compromised machines in other countries.

If you control a botnet, you can make lots of money by selling contracts to attack X target for Y amount of time. You can also attack a service and demand money from the owner to stop. It's organized crime.
There are a lot of different botnets out there and the owners compete with each other. They write worms that seek out devices that are already compromised and wrestle control away, strengthening their botnet while at the same time weakening the botnet of their opponent.
It's really fucked up and a lot of people don't believe it, but I don't blame them.
