You lied to me, Jow Forums. You told me that i3 was shit, and that only NEETS and LARPers liked it. But it's easy to use and comfy as fuck.

It's no way shit. It's just useless in 2019 with every other WM doing titling anyways and being better in every other way.

So you failed for the tiling meme. You'll realize it and come back to stacking in a few months.

it's the most sane option if you're into tileshit, I'll give you that

i hate it, rearranging your windows is a fucking nightmare if you have more than two of them open on a workspace. the "scratch" area is also useless and there is no other way to actually hide a window.
every other tiling wm is even more autistic though, so i'm sticking with this piece of shit for now.

Say I like to use the keyboard for 50% of my programs. I see videos about replaceing all the programs for some autist cli option, and it doesn't make sense most of the time. But I do prefer mpv.
Every time I've tried to go full tiling I always come back to stacking with a couple of window rules. It's like trying to use vim binds or dark mode for everything. It's just too much work.

looking good user

I've fallen for the tiling meme and I can't get up. I can't use a regular desktop anymore, my my computer skills with anything that is not my own machine it that of a boomer. I love not needing to *click* the window I want to focus on, and am too used to just getting my work done. I'm too used to using tools like dmenu to open up programs, and I'm too used to my own custom scripts to launch multiple programs on the fly.

It was a hassle though, and it took me a few weeks to get everything set up, especially since I didn't know too much about the CLI at the time, but now I'm stuck here.

This is so typical

1) I'm not OP, but that doesn't even matter here
2) I've been using i3 for over a year now and I still love it. Why assume someone would get sick of tiling WMs?
3) Why the hell do you even care what WM someone uses?

Actually, I don't really care about tiling / stacking windows. It's not that important to me. But I love how the entire window manager consists of two or three lightweight blocks that can be customized with simple text files.

yeah, i3 crowd is really autistic about keyboard use

I love my mouse gesture with easystroke
basic navigation, actions and movement... I am as fast or faster than keyboard
big thing is I dont need to have my hands nailed to the keyboard at all time

Do I code without mouse use, duh.
do I fucking browse memes with keyboard?
fuck no

t. stroke specialist

lmao that's a good one

i dont get it

I don't care

why even live

Because the word stroke can be used ambiguously for quick movements, jacking off, or a sudden interruption in the blood supply of the brain, and in this instance stroke is used to imply masturbation which would make "stroke specialist" an absurd job title because it would be like calling yourself a masturbation expert which appeals to the incongruity theory of why jokes are funny because the word stroke is often used with drawing and not with masturbation.

Pressing alt+Key to open things will always be more reliable than drawing letters on your touchpad.

use dwm

What others tiling WMs let you use stacking and tab layout?

>only NEETS and LARPers liked it
point proven

while the webm might give you impression of some painting shit,
smart people use gestures that are mostly just line, with max one breaking angle

I want back on web page. gesture left, single line
I want previous song that plays in deadbeef? gesture up and left
I want next song that plays in deadbeef? gesture up and right
I want to close window? single diagonal line, from top right to bottom left
I want send window to scratchpad? gesture down
I want page refresh? gesture up
I want to send current window to another monitor, well, this one is side button on mouse

you got the idea... unless I am about to type to search/filter or get somewhere more complicated.. I do shit as fast as you moving thumb from resting on the space to get to alt and press button

>keyboard is autistic
>drawing imaginary shapes like a 3 year old isn't autistic

keyboard is not autistic
you throwing a reeeeeeeeeeee fit when someone points that mouse can be faster while more comfortable in certain situations is rather aspie

Quod Erat Demonstrum

Fag

are you me?
I'm literally too much of a brainlet to click through menus and shit. A few months ago, I had to email IT about their bloated jeetscript site not letting me write my reports. Turns out, I had to click on a checkbox and then click a dropdown for "Actions." I assumed that it was like delete or "mark as read" and didn't realize that they'd use something so obtuse for the main thing the site is used for. This after 15 minutes of setting umatrix to "fuck my shit up senpai" and trying to get vim vixen to work with the site. Somehow I can still use PooperPoint, so I won't lose my stipend and will forever be the guy who's good with computers, but desu I don't know how much longer I'll last.

Hopefully I can convince administration to let me boot from usb because otherwise I'll have to lug my T520 or T60 to the office every day. fml

damn youre so random and unique

kek

yeah but it also makes me feel like a wizard

you mean autistic

People have been telling me that for literally a decade, yet I'm still on xmonad 10 years later. Floating just feels unintuitive now.
