Maybe some loli hentai thumbnails in the browser cache from viewing the /b/ index. Otherwise no.

I still don't get how these people are so utterly retarded to not even fucking HIDE the images in any way let alone fully encrypt them.

>Spilling gravy on his laptop
That gravy better not be white

how's the weather in Australia m8

So... what crime will the Geek Squad member be charged with? Surely you can't just search someone's laptop without a warrant

Think about that he brought a pedo ridden laptop to a genius bar to begin with..

You consent to it by consenting to their virus removal procedures, which scan all of the documents on your harddrive. =^]

Attached: 1562335835495.jpg (802x900, 187K)

You have to sign a consent waiver when you bring in your computer to be repaired. The worker is protected by that.

This guy must have had a whole folder titled "kiddie porn" on his desktop, because nobody working at best buy will care enough about your shit to actually look through your computer

This. Just look at him, hes literally what I imagine a fucking boomer pedo to look like he probably had them directly on his desktop and not even in a folder.

I bet they have a scanner looking for known hashes from a glow in the dark database.

Yes, my old hard drive has 5 badblocks.

i worked for GS for a year. we gave one pc to police after a coworker of mine saw cp filenames.

the top white sheet for the STAR system we use to check in comps has a clause that if we find cp on it we will call the police and hand it over to authorities. you sign off on that.

If i had I would at least encrypt my drives.

>Not taking your hard drive out of your laptop before giving it to someone to repair

He doesn't look intelligent or tech savvy enough to do that. Also this

>Implying a guy who spills gravy all over his computer is smart enough to know how to take out a hard drive
>Let alone not spill gravy on his computer
Who the fuck eats a Thanksgiving meal over their laptop's keyboard?

not true btw at all whatsoever
if we ever had to do work with your files we would use our own file manager that is privacy designed-- no thumbnails, just filenames.

i am:

Must've been there along ass time ago.
Stopped using STAR like 6 years ago.
We NOVA now.

Me

If I worked at a store like that and did computer repairs, I probably would poke around a bit if I'm being honest. Any time I find or buy a computer with a hard drive that's not wiped, I look around.
True, boomers are dumb as hell with new tech.

Unless you're a hot girl.

Sarah from TLOU is entirely fictional offcier I swear!

Why do you r tards use the "ones and zeroes" meme as an argument for breaking the law? 'its just ones and zeroes maaaaan, it's just virtual bits'

My knife stabbing into your heart is just metal atoms. Atoms in a certain position at a certain time. Why should I be jailed for moving atoms??

>coworker of mine saw cp filenames
maybe hes also a pedo for knowing the filenames

Geeksquad has paid fbi informants.

based and pedo-pilled.

>non-government entity
>warrant

Attached: retard_alert.jpg (1224x1445, 247K)

Are the filenames usually in code or something? I would think something like "6 year old does anal" would be obvious to anyone seeing it.

>windows
>new tech

Weird fetish shit, but nothing illegal.

He probably set one of his images as his background by accident and couldn't change it back himself

Fine, i think you can agree though.
We copy anything we find that we want to keep, then call the cops depending on how much you tipped.

The idea is that you don't harm children just by being in possession of certain data. It's like addicts getting jailed for doing drugs or weed.

>Geek Squad

genuis bar is the name of a geek squad tier service for applel

Geek Squad has a partnership with the FBI. The techs there get bounties for snooping and reporting shit to the FBI.
I'm not even kidding. This was a minor scandal a few years back and I guarantee they never stopped doing it.

Honestly don't see why this is bad. If your retard ass is bringing in laptops with questionable materials to fucking geeksquad you deserve the v&ing. The FBI paying them is just window dressing.

I had two friends who did computer repairs for some computer shop.
They said they found CP all the time.
They only reported it if it was a lot, or if it was unique.

I don't know why they were looking at other peoples files in the first place, probably just making backups before doing any actual work.

a) any store worth their salt makes a backup before doing anything with the shit they got
b) retards usually actually name their shit cp-0001.jpg or similar shit
c) major chains like geeksquad compare hash values for known cp

>They only reported it if it was a lot, or if it was unique.
your friends are really picky

Yeah we all know from To Catch a Predator most pedophiles are 200 IQ super geniuses.

That or the Windows start menu or recent items just showed the images.
Based windows pedo busting features.

>They only reported it if it was [...] unique.

How... did they know that?

because the pedos who know enough to do that aren't getting caught?

this is a vague memory, but i think there are checksum databases, maybe databases of originals
it's an important issue because cp being unique implies that the owner of the hd is the creator of the cp, so i could imagine LE wanting such a thing

distribution vs consumption

Whoa. Is the CIA so through with their pursuit of any new CP material that their database is nearly complete, or is there a relatively low amount of CP produced?
Honestly, I hope it's the latter.

A mix of both.
There are massive databases of CP and there are very few let's call them "groups" producing CP vs just sharing shit they found on TOR. So yes unknown images are a really big deal.

>imagine being at computers
Gets me every time

>things/don't click/cp/cp

who from what?

A child character from a massively overhyped game that dies in the first 15 minutes of the game.

Stop making this dumb 1s and 0s argument. It's stupid and fallacious. Just say legalize lolis and leave it at that.

How many pictures?

No, I only use 2s and 3s.

isn't he not allowed to use the internet anymore? might as well just stay in jail

>So... what crime will the Geek Squad member be charged with?
Probably none, and it is worth keeping that in mind.

It is fair to ask why someone from Geek Squad was looking at that HDD in the first place. The headline indicates it was not a software issue.

Not that particular kind of questionable bits, no, but i wouldn't bring my laptop to any country that cares too much about piracy.

>2d
>questionable
only if you live in a literal shithole
what's next? enforcing copyright? lmao

not that kind of 1s and 0s

>It is fair to ask why someone from Geek Squad was looking at that HDD in the first place. The headline indicates it was not a software issue.

>Here sir, your laptop, just as new
>Oh what do you mean "test it"? it was filed as a hardware issue, not a software one, hope you understand :)

So when Stacey sends her laptop to them to get repaired they're allowed to look through all of her nude selfies just to check she isn't diddling any kids in them?

Yes. They are not allowed to share anything, but they can see whatever they want.

Accurate. They're really more interested in producers than consumers.

RGB so 2016. We glow in the dark now senpai

You harm children by supporting the creation of child porn. It's not like weed possession at all user. Nobody is harmed in the creation/distribution of weed so you can possess it nbd, you just hurting yourself and its your right as an adult to do whatever you want to your body. Child porn by definition is harmful to children

My favorite case was a guy who literally cried that his HDD died, so we used that shitty Seagate recovery tool on it. Got like 10k child porn images. I'm not even sure why he thought we weren't gonna look.

Called the Police, and the Cop looked at the first like 10 images, which weren't explicit, said it was good and left. So we had to give it back to the guy. Dude got outta jail free card because the Cop didn't scroll...

>illegal numbers
not too controversial in a world where illegal words and illegal opinions also exist

Yeah in an encrypted vdi

>Nobody is harmed in the creation/distribution of weed
Press X to Doubt it.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

I also regularly see this one couple, whose desktop wallpaper is them dressed like furries, a wolf and a sheep, fucking. They arent actually unattractive either, which is odd. And walk in to drop it off or pick it up like bosses.

Also got a black dude who has Chocobo and Powerpuff girls porn. He's like 50, but he's married to a fat white jewish lady. SO that makes sense i guess.

I should have said it's not necessary for people to be harmed. It *is* necessary for people to be harmed in the creation of cp

You're actively supported communities and maybe even profitable schemes to create child porn.

It's no different from asking some monster to give you pictures of naked children he took and developed himself.

So then you decriminalize possession so it's harder for people like that to profit off of it, and it makes abuse easier to report. I don't know about other countries but in the U.S. it doesn't matter why you have CP in the first place. Teenagers sexting, adults responsibly investigating bullying involving CP, and plenty of legitimate cases of possession get treated the same as if everyone is a child predator. The drug analogy applies because when drugs are decriminalized cops are focusing on actual crimes being committed instead of searching people for weed.

But it's just data. There's no real trade that must happen here. Prohibiting the creation or dissemination of it is fine. But getting in trouble just for being in possession of it is just an (albeit effective) attempt to strongarm the problem away.

I really don't want to go on detail because I always get banned, but do your own research instead of trying to move the goalpost moralfag stoner.

>I should have said it's not necessary for people to be harmed. It *is* necessary for people to be harmed in the creation of cp
I find really funny how you do defend drugs but consider that CP inherently harms the children, people around the world die more times for drug abuse than Child Abuse, but I don't that matters to you, Meth-head. Funny how you consider people not always get harmmed by consuming/distributing/produce drugs, but you believe every children who have sex is getting raped.

Detached header it protip

Just like incest, CP is one of those things thats far more common than people realise.

I wonder what the real percentage of people having looked at CP is.
And fuck there's probably so much famous people that are into it as well.
