The left driver in my K701s died and I went looking for a replacement driver. Turns out, no one sells the K701 driver anymore, not even AKG. They do sell the K702 driver though.
Would this work in my K701? Would it sound any different? If so, should I get two drivers then and replace both the left and right?
Buy 2 K702 drivers, it'll sound different if you don't pair them.
John Smith
Anyone try the beyer amirons? They look really neat and I hear they got a smooth sound profile.
Isaiah Gonzalez
You sure it's the whole driver?
IIRC The left side connections are prone to wearing out. I had this with the K702, and I think it was the left side as well. I just needed to resolder the connection.
>>Budget $1000-1500 >>Source Bifrost Uber No amp atm but open to suggestions $500-$1000 >Type of headphone Open to both dynamic and planar. Electrostats seem iffy >>Open or closed Definitely Open >>Comfort level Sound is all that matters >>Sound signature Don't really care much about bass. Would like something with very clear mids and non abrasive treble. A wide sound-stage and great clarity is a must. >>Past headphones Ath-m50s, AKG Q701's, Hifman HE-500
Sendyaudio Aiva have the best clarity. They are Planar and sound pretty fucking great and only cost 600 dollar.
For an amp just get the Atom. No reason to pay big bucks, unless you need an extremely powerful one

>fell for the physical media meme Get with the times grandpa. Much easier to go digital with private trackers and checking Steve Hoffman forums to make sure you aren't downloading improperly mastered garbage.

imagine using totl equipment to listen to ilegally downloaded music. stop being poor!
I remember when /hpg/ was making fun of indo user and canadian user when they were shilling hard for stax stuff a couple of years back and now they are the default recommendation here. It's crazy how opinions change so fast.
Jason Rogers
these sound like shit
Jace Jackson
buy stax and experience for yourself why Stax are the reference all other TOTL headphones are compared to
Adrian Howard
they sound good, the perfect closed backs
Caleb Jackson
they are the ones who constantly spam and shill stax right now, they just removed their trip codes
I have 650 now, and they are not even from this universe.. wewlad

hello friends I have been using a pair of beyer dt880s for the past few years and im thinking of moving on to something else
any recos? budget: no budget source:desktop pc type: I prefer closed or semi-closed (like dt880) phones, and also prefer traditional diaphragm/dynamic drivers comfort level: any sound sig: I actually prefer dt990 sound sig but I'm okay with a little EQ similar to what im doing with my dt880, mainly for subbass and bass My main portable daily drivers are AKG n40s, so any headphones that match those in sound sig will be great
I don't know anything about audio stuff and I'm not an audiophile by any means. I was thinking of buying Sennheiser HD 599, but it doesn't come with a 3.5 cable. Does it matter what kind of adapter get for it? Just grab whatever?
Also taking other suggestions for general use headphones below 200 price range. I listen to all kinds of music and game a lot but I'm more concerned about music than game sounds. Comfort is also important.

Have /hpg/ answered the eternal question: HD600 of closed-backs?
Cameron Campbell
uh yeah sure why get a 599 when you can get a massdrop 58X?
Isaac Ward
DT880 or spend the extra dosh on K712?
Michael Bennett
i paid £137 for my X2s but they're worth it and have a removable 3.5mm cable.
if you want closed back then you might get a pair of beyers for that.
DT880 are semi-open on paper but are pretty much open in practice, unless you really want the isolation on a closed-back i'd simply go for open, there will be more options. With that said, DT1990 is a good bet.

another thread, another victory for stax
Cooper Perry
Not sure about "HD600", but DT250 is the closest to neutral you will get.
Anthony Martin
DT880.

So user, it’s afternoon already! What’s upon your head?
they both increase bass and soundstage, upper treble seems to go down a bit, seal mod increases the bass even more and is pretty much a must regardless of what pads you use
