Security fag here, making $30k in 3rd world country with 0 years of experience (basically impossible, it's like 4 times the average salary here and I just started out), just spend a year or two reading up on security protocols, concepts, do some CTFs etc etc
It's easy to transition to it from network administration, but god damn is it 100 times as boring
You'll be reduced to the guy to do *all* network administration and then also do the security stuff on top (ie be liable for every fuckup)

Sure, but consider that you have to now do network administration, but also have weekly talks where you explain supremely obvious security concepts to boomers, ie "do not click on non-work emails outside on work machines" or my personal favorite "do not use the same password for everything" and then see it all come down to nothing since they just use a post-it with all their passwords somewhere on their desk

when you earn 73k a year, a 7k increase doesn't change your life quality. You should instead focus on something that gives purpose to your life besides money: art, politics, a girlfriend etc

My point is a 7k increase on a 73k salary only marginally affects your life quality. So if you can't get a significant salary increase (like 30k or something), just focus on other things besides money that make you happy.
