Threadripper is much faster than 1p epyc as you can overclock them. Epyc clockspeeds are heavily limited to stay in the correct TDP since server mobos don't have 400w+ of VRMs. I wish they would just make TR and epyc on the same socket and just have TR as the high TDP workstation variant.
