Just a heads up, RDRAND is broken on Ryzen 3000 CPUs. systemd 240+ calls that CPU instruction directly during boot which means a lot of newer Linux distributions simply won't boot on those broken Ryzen 3000 series CPUs.
If you bought one and you can't boot: This is why. Interestingly, very old AMD APUs have a similar problem which is why a systemd patch working around this problem has been in it's git tree since May.
meh, I'm using W10 LTSC with telemetry set to 0 (basic). I tried linux before and all 10 distros were broken in one way or another, with windows everything just werks.
Asher Kelly
Good.
Adrian Miller
Left or right?
Michael Davis
haha, you will get posted on G MEMES AND GREENTEXTS on instagram, boy ;) very nice post ;)
James Watson
Sounds like modern OpenRC will probably boot? Install Gentoo.
Obviously systemd will too with the patch anyhow.
Charles Flores
Why would you use systemd, it's dog shit?
Aiden Torres
P-p-p-please dont buy AMD! Buying a processor is about so much more than performance or value per dollar. It's about security. About stability. About getting a good nights sleep safe in the knowledge that you invested in the only real blue chip cpu out there.
Sure you can gamble and hope to win the jackpot for cheaps. But there's only one sure thing in life: you get what you pay for. The cheaper option will get you: headaches, instability, blue screens, broken promises.
Now there is growing talk that maybe you wont even be able to run Linux on it. Unserious companies will promise server grade performance at fire sale prices. The reality may turn out much more sinister. Do yourself a favor and bet on a safe horse. Bet on blue. Ba-fucking-zinga.
Unironically install Gentoo, or Void if you don't wanna spend 2 days compiling every packages

Under nazi Germany this man wouldve been whipped into shape, he would have a purpose and not be a gigantic lardass and waste of oxygen.

Intel doesn't have cute anime mascot or cosplayers. AMD wins.
Kayden Harris
isn't rdrand backdoored? why is systemd using it?

Fuck, I hate Americans. You have this antifa faggot in the open, that pink haired cunt behind him. Fucking endless ocean of commies out in the open, so disgusting.

I live in a shithole but we're all right wing without being nazis and everyone hates commies, got to say I love that more than the conveniences of living in the first world.

>systemd is shit tried to warn you, friend.
Isaac Reed
Do these cuties have porn???
Nicholas Wilson
>Intel gets a gay actor in an ad next to a shirtless, presumably naked man >AMD gets azn cuties with thicc thighs in miniskirts for their ads wtf I love AMD
>systemd is broken >blame AMD for it! Sure, and Linux and NT are the reason Intel has CPU vulnerabilities.
Nolan Martinez
jeff, you need to go back.
Isaac Brown
Didn't the systemdicks faggots make some retarded argument to keep using RDRAND when security people told them it's crap? If so and this actually forces them to abandon it, that's a +1 karma to AMD right there.
>It's about security that means Intel is automatically out of the question
Cameron Long
Systemd asks the processor does it support this syscall that produces backdoor'd random numbers and 3rd gen ryzens replies yes! (a lie). Then systemd is like great give me some and then it receives a bucket of garbage from the processor, doesn't do any validation of the input before trying to process it, crashes and as a pid 1 takes the rest of the system with it. Both are at fault here.
No, Linux is. A system that doesn't support ryzen is shit.
Blake Adams
Are dakis really good for your sleep? I-it's not like I'd put an anime girl cover on them or anything...

Women don't I've a shit about politics morality or personal beliefs. You need to be physically attractive and have enough money to keep em around. That's literally it
>even less people actually use Linux you have to go back
Joseph Garcia
Why the obsession over MTF anime trannies?
John Carter
Yes. I'm also Jow Forums and have an attractive girlfriend and a job as a sys admin. It can be done Jow Forums
Andrew Diaz
It's just a systemd problem. So no problem at all really.
Robert Gomez
You don't know what Linux is, do you.
Austin James
>receives a bucket of garbage Isn't that what you want? I haven't looked at the docs for RDRAND so feel free to correct me but random data usually just looks like garbage and it sounds like systemd is just doing something wrong again.
Matthew Moore
it certainly can. most people just can't be bothered. that includes me lol
>"...systemd versions 240+ will simply by-pass the kernels urandom facility and call RDRAND directly..." So, systemd forces you to use your CPU's non-free, compromised 'random' generator to weaken your encryption and secure connections. Nothing new here.
Sebastian Parker
why yes. I enjoy sex with my hand, thank you for asking
Isaac Ward

FREETARDS BTFO! HAHAHAHA
Henry Fisher
Windows doesn't have this problem.
Matthew Davis
>AMD preventing me from ever booting Loonix Based!
it returns ULONG_MAX not random garbage. of course, that is something systemd should be able to handle, you're right about that.
don't know if they are good for your sleep or not, but they are kind of addictive. I actually miss mine if I go to sleep at some family cabin or hotel or other place where I can't bring it (without raising some eyebrows, anyway)
Gavin King
Why so mad?
Gabriel Gonzalez
>AMD DOEZNT WARK WIDD LEENUKS It doesn't work with SYSTEMD and SYSTEMD is pure SHIT.

Why the fuck did he ever think that would look ok?

lmao this I'm on kubuntu didn't even know there was a problem.
