I would probably pay for vim if I needed to desu
no idea bout sublime tho
Who doesn't shut up sublime with a key you can find on the internet?
Someone who is at work and doesn't want to get themselves or their company in trouble.
It works just the same if you buy it or not. I bought because I like it and want to support the devs
isn't it pretty cheap?
It's $60 if I remember right
Correction: $80
What sort of company can't afford to get a text editor license?
can someone explain the sublime hype to me
yeah it looks nice but I don't see where it's supposed to fit into my workflow
np++ for fast access
intellij for serious shit
submime seems to be a middle of the road solution that sucks at everything, like VS code.
could be wrong, please edumacate.
It's great but I'd honestly rather use vim
>np++ for fast access
Sublime is great for fast access as well. That's it.
>he thinks companies pay for text editors
no one does that in Europe
is it better than np++ tho?
>russian text
Go back to sosach, budlo!
It doesn't have to be. All I need is proper syntax highlighting, zero lag in large files and basic editing support.
IDEs can take of the actual work.
>garbage spam website
>most of the pros and cons are literal trash
brainlet
Companies.
Mine has an annual license for OP's pic.
They're not free to everyone.
soo tldr: minimap?
i guess that's nice, but seems like a waste of horizontal real estate.
also, slant is dogshit.

Vscodium exists and it's free.
>too heavy for a text editor
>too shit for an ide
it's like growing earless corn.
Npp has a minimap
>That license key has been invalidated, due to being shared.
>Please email [email protected] to get your license key reissued.
they got smart. You prolly have to block the license website in the hosts file
>hosts file
>windows
yes? you retarded bro?
windows users are factually mentally retarded, as only a retard would use spyware developed by a malware company
KEK
bro what
4channel.org is 18+, please leave this website until you reach the age of legal majority within the United States of America or you are in violation of this websites terms of service
I want whatever you're smoking brah
Ironic humor is only used by children and is a proven coping mechanism for severe mental illness, as is using windows
I'm not following breh
If it's spyware why hasn't it hurt me yet?
it's not supposed to
>It doesn't have to be.
Except it does have to be, to justify it costing $80 (vs $0).
Sublime has great find and replace for multiple files/folders , really quick to open and play around with stuff too
vscode doesn't have that but i use both depending on what i need
Ive opened and edited a 5GB file where Notepad++ failed at like 110000KB. I still use Notepad++ Im not shitting on it.
Sublime is fast, powerful, good looking, has great support from the devs and the community, good plugins, now has git support I believe, my favorite Syntax Highlighting, not electron based. Theres just a lot that I think people ignore in Sublime but praise in other editors.
give it a try. its really great.
Just switched from sublime to vscode bc of the better debugging. Was using sublime since 2012 before.
zoomers and cucks
try cudatext. it's sublime but freeware
i wouldn't mind paying 20 bucks for sublime, but 80 is far too much
i was pretty annoyed by sublime,
until i decided to patch the executable myself.
using np++ for work and private
>CON Windows-only
While it can run in Wine, it is native only to Windows.
CON Limited new syntax support for new languages
It may be hard to find good plugins for relatively new languages.
CON Outdated UI
Only the text area can be themed, and it doesn't have as many features as browser-based text areas.
CON Session backups not enabled by default
Unsaved tabs will be lost when Npp crashes, unless you first enable the session backup option.
CON User defined language doesn't support triple quote strings
It also doesn't support triple hashed comments. Both styles are overridden by their single character single line version.
CON Annoying update notifications upon start-up
Annoying update notifications tend to pop up upon start-up after not having used the app or machine for a few days. At the same time, they can be easily turned off.
thats all the cons, no more
>5gb textfile
you got a problem here desu
even Text editors are botnet nowadays
>atom has fucking input lag
>vs code is bloated MS trash
>only other option is basically Sublime text or gedit
I don't pay for it but sublime is my favorite editor right before vim.
You should pay money for good software. As long as it is free. This is not. Fuck it.
>CON Outdated UI
>Only the text area can be themed
4coder is great
people who actually perform work with their tools don't care much about theming. it's not about the looks.
yes, only huge multinational corps pay for multilicense that you can use
my confusion lies in what the hell he means by UI. the icons in toolbar that's useless anyway as you're most likely using a keyboard when editing text? or the more obvious
>not electron ewwww.
or features? I guess.
If you have to pay for an editor, the the Intellij bundle.
do russians/other languages have to learn english to program? I've never really thought about it before, but native english speakers must get a massive leg up in learning to program in languages with core C syntax - like things like "for" and "while" loops are intuitive, you don't have to memorise what "while" means
When I started learning to program stuff, I already knew english on a beginners level and all these words were pretty intuitive.
You don't have to know much to read code, but to become a better programmer you will have to read a lot of documentation articles.
So, yeah, since english language is de facto the language for interaction of programmers all over the world, learning english is very important.
But a lot of programmers are still somehow able to get the job done with very basic knowledge of english language.
My writing might be bad, though, because I mostly read stuff and don't write english text a lot.
i couldn't find any keys that work.
Does Sublime build in all known pirated keys into the software itself so you can't pirate it or how does that work?
Loved np++ for a while, but:
Folder opening is a pain in the ass to say the least
It will become slow if you close with multiple tabs open when reopening next session.
