What is the general consensus on 8k monitors?

any screen density beyond that which my eyes can resolve from a normal viewing distance is a waste of money. 1080p @27" isn't high enough pixel density, but 4k/8k is overkill

Not even 4k monitors are worth it.

Plenty of youtube videos which still look pretty amazing downscaled to 4k. 8k cameras will eventually trickle down to the prosumer and consumer levels. Phones do full 4k now and will definitely be 8k capable in 5 years.

1080p is only on par with CRT monitors from the early 2000s and late 90s. I had a wuxga monitor in the early 2000s that would blow away 1080p. It didn't matter at the time since I didn't have the hardware to take advantage of it.

I have like everything hooked up to my 4K tv. Netflix, prime, Hulu, laptop with torrents, PS4, Xbox, cable tv with all premium channels like hbo, have a plex server, rabbit ear antenna for weird over air channels I can’t get with cable, blue ray player. Anyway I’m really disappointed in the lack of 4K content across all inputs. Maybe 20 percent of what I watch is 4K and even less is true 4K. At this rate we won’t live to see better then 50 percent content in 8k. So I’d say wait a while before getting an 8k monitor or tv. We still have a lot of catching up to do before 4K content is the norm.
