LCD2 eq'd to Dr. Olive's studies on true neutral over ear frequency response are the best shit ever. Probably because the absolutely perfect seal they create every single time you put them on and that large driver(wait is driver size even discernible?)
Only things better are probably a modified for perfect seal every time Lambda and some exotic dynamics each with a DSP designed specifically for them.
I'm personally looking forward to when the "audiophile" companies start to embrace DSP because looking at the qc35 refresh(check out the raw fr on rtings) and the galaxy buds you can do insane shit with DSP using what are likely sub $10 a pair dynamic water bottle drivers in closed back housings. I bet you if like beyerdynamic sold an active DT880 DSP'd to perfection for $250 it would destroy the world

This is actually good. I don't agree with certain choices like the ZMF and Meze garbage, lack of SRS 3100, no mention of which EQ's are available for which model with which pads.
For example there are GRAAS measurements of the DT770 with sick Dekoni hybrid pads on it which once EQ'd would suit the majority of people for their first headphone and would last literally forever.
That being said though it's certainly the best guide I've seen to date so I'm just nitpicking

m40x and m50x are unironically good they just need EQ and you should also buy a couple sets of replacement pads(as to not alter the fr) because they fall apart every so often and if you just consider that part of the initial price of the headphone it will feel much better than buying replacements when it happens

Try out oratory 1990's eq for them on reddit and if you don't like it then try just the settings for the low end, it really gets the lacking subbass up to audible levels

unironically use rtings to find a pair. They post raw frequency responses as well as their normal ones but if you don't even know what that means just go by their sound score it's not perfect but it's better than nothing.
They test the mic quality and post recordings. Also they test like comfort and portability and shit which are important
