North American manual sales are the only thing which kept BMW and Porsche from killing it entirely. Daily driving NPCS here have more autos, that's about it. Enthusiasts drive stick here at an equal or higher rate with euros.

When I bought my Taco, it was still cheaper to get the manual option. That's my sole consideration these days. Automatics are now as efficient if not more so than a manual. I still like manuals better, and have driven them except for one vehicle, but I'd get an automatic over a manual if it was cheaper or equal.

Usually there's a trigger thing on the shift that stops you from going into reverse unless it's engaged.
