Want help? >State budget & CURRENCY >Post at least some attempt at a parts list >List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work >For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)
CPUs based on current pricing: >Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS) >R3 2200G - Recommended minimum gaming >R5 2600 - Good gaming CPU with great value >R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU >R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU (9900K for spendthrifts) >R7 1700X - Budget video editing >R9 3900X - Professional tasks
RAM: >Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks ONLY for a typical dual channel CPU >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die recommended >AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
GPUs based on current pricing: 1080p >RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost >GTX 1660 - higher fps / more demanding games >RX 5700 - even higher FPS 1440p >RX 5700 - basic >RX 5700XT - standard >RTX 2070 Super - higher framerates in SOME games 2160p (4K) >RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing performance scales better into 4K than Navi does. >2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive
>Navi launch drivers have issues, esp. w/ OC. Wait for AIB if considering the XT. 5700 blower is alright, due to low power. AIB models come mid-August.

if you are using bios flash or whatever without the cpu then no >Is watercooling a meme? yes, anything in the $30 range should be very good, the hyper 212 black in on sale on amazon
Single tower cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO Black edition.
James Williams
The stock one or a cheap ass air cooler.
Elijah Ward
>if you are using bios flash or whatever without the cpu then no might sound like a retard but how does the mobo send any signal to the monitor if no apu no gpu and no mobo integrated gpu
Lucas Campbell
can someone give an actual source on this or why they won't work because no one has explained it or can you actually just recommend me an alternative motherboard and cpu for windows 7?
Samuel Robinson
MY TOMAHAWK DOESN'T FUCKING WORK
Matthew Anderson
EOL also why win 7? why not 10?
Jordan Lopez
You dont need a signal on your monitor the mobo should have a led somewhere to indicate that the update is on
Tyler Bailey
did u flash it
Easton Gutierrez
just get win10 for free your power supply should have at least 550W btw also, you could get a crucial mx500 M.2 instead of that samsung ssd.
Ethan Harris
>based on current pricing You think a shill is someone looking for price/performance?
Angel Sullivan
so i'll have to guess what's happening through a led sounds laborious
Hudson Peterson
I'm already regretting getting a 3700x with all the bios/driver issues reported. Never again early adopting.
Juan Scott
You were warned
Jeremiah Clark
Correct, hence the screeching of anons whom cant get their msi flashback boards working.
attach fans to the headers and try again, if its not spinning, you're not flashing the bios.
Kayden Young
Whats the thing that the sata thing plugs into? Not the hard drive, it goes the other way. I think that might be whats broken on my computer. Is it easy to replace?
there's enough reasons that 2000 characters aren't enough, from bloat, spyware, not being in control of your own pc, no customization or freedom etc. >EOL I'm tired of hearing this shit, all it means is no more updates from microsoft, which I already have turned off and so does anyone who ran ancile. the only support that matters is the third party support from hardware and software, e.g. cpus and games I can easily get win10 for free, I got win7 for free as well, I'm not an idiot the power supply I have lying around is 520W, is that not good enough? if not, why? >m.2 what are the differences? I'm going to be installing the OS on it is it objectively better? it goes in your motherboard if it's broken it's likely you'll have to get a new motherboard
nah it's out. Just not popular. Honestly it's not worth the money.
Asher Cruz
>with all the bios/driver issues reported explain i want to get one for my new build with a tomahawk
Jeremiah Price
what BIOS issues? Are you talking with 3xxx series on older chipset boards? Because I have an X570 board with zero issues.
Nolan Davis
2600 non x is better value obv but 3600 is better. pretty big jump
Justin Young
Limited quantities. Expect them to be out of stock at e-tail for weeks, easier to check on local retail and hope they got a shipment of processors soon.
So long as my cpu clock stays at the right clock speed with the manual voltage I've set during a benchmark and the temperature is fine, it's " le stable "?
Luke Wilson
I CANT GET A NEW MOTHERBOARD THATS SO COMPLICATED
its not broke broke but my brand new hard drive is really noisy and internet said it could be that data cable
i just don't understand why you insist on using win7 520W might just barely cut it, but don't expect long-term reliability for sata SSDs M.2 is just a form factor. it's just less of a hassle because it doesnt require any cables
Jace Williams
anything above ryzen 2000 x ocing is a meme... i hope u are not getting memed
Carson Cruz
isn't 2600 already overkill for 1080 144Hz gaymen? i mean what's the point of muh extra clock speed if the gpu will bottleneck me
Isaiah Bennett
Older chipset, 3XX and 4XX. Of course 5XX doesn't have this issue because it already shipped with newest bios.
Cameron Russell
Alternatively the internet is lying to you and your hard drive has dysfunctional spindle motor.
John Butler
>segmentation for 100-200mhz higher clocks and a better box cooler memery
Jaxon Hernandez
answer the question dork
Eli Diaz
People are still mad because they wanted boost clocks on all cores. Shit works fine on my X470 board.
Andrew Butler
not for high hz gaymin. nothing cpu wise is a meme for that. even a 580 will se increases in lows and what not from a 3600
Leo Cooper
Its new though and my old one sounded the same i hate pc stuff so much
yeah but going early adaptation on a non-proven (ie a few years down the line) product for muh +10% fps ain't really worth it i mean my old 2630Q can't even be maxed
Colton Parker
nice triple dubs
Thomas Thompson
some hard drives are noisy unless it's making a hard grinding sound all the time if it makes noise while you're copying large files or doing stuff on it then it's no worries >that's so complicated youtube.com/watch?v=69WFt6_dF8g here's a video to show anybody who's even remotely scared of building a pc that they shouldn't be even remotely scared of building a pc I don't know how young you are but you shouldn't be worried user, it's okay if you still think your hard drive is broken then I can try to help
>early adaptation on a non-proven its 3rd gen ryzen bruh
>+10% fps havent checkd benchmarks in your specific usecase(tm) so cant comment on dis
3600 over 2600 has like double the 0.1% lows in some games 2600x is shit value over 3600 atleast here. 2600 is better. but id go with 3600 huge jumps in gaymin
Samuel Nguyen
>maybe 2-3 good upcoming games >no new tech to rush and upgrade for >buying into marketer hype and upgrading now Goddamn it feels good not being a complete stooge. Enjoy wasting money on shit when the real drops come out in late 2020.
Jack Green
What's the Jow Forums approved mouse for 2019? my G400s scroll broke, don't know what to buy anymore.
David Wilson
triple dubs have spoken
Eli Lewis
>its 3rd gen ryzen bruh yes, but what if in a few month there a shit ton of call backs because the new 7nm architecture manufacturing process wasn't on point? or the extra heat of zen 2 causes too much malfunction end short product life call me a boomer but i'm not that autistic about muh bleeding edge adoption, i can live with a slightly outdated lpatform especially knowing that i'll be less salty when zen 3 will come out than if i went zen 2 > but id go with 3600 huge jumps in gaymin eh i'll consider it
Evan Rodriguez
forgot to add muh limited OC headspace on zen 2
Nathan Campbell
>real drops come out in late 2020. you'll say the same about zen 3
Grayson Bell
G305, G403, MX518, G Pro, Glorious Model O

I tried building my 3700x build but fucked up the pins. One pin even fell out. I've accepted that my cpu is done but is the motherboard (asus prime x570 pro) still good for use? There are scratches from the pins in the upper right corner
Amazon has some nice monitor sales during prime. I'm willing to buy a new ultrawide monitor but I can't decide whether IPS or M-VA is better. I'm loving my current IPS and don't while on paper the va monitor has better functions like gsync I don't want to suffer from shitty image quality or ghosting.
Brody Baker
Probably fine but might want to make sure that the missing pin didn't fall in and get lost in the socket
Henry Adams
>One pin even fell out oof
Asher Lee
ocing past 2000-x cpus are literally a meme. >wanting non optimized cpus so you can squeeze out oc yourself instead of getting a working product out of the box >buying a low clocked cpu for the specific reason that u can manually oc it instead of the performance it delivers we are hitting boomer nostalgia levels that are unprecedented
>having this much fear dare I say it?.... s-stop kvetching and just buy it goy >zen2 heat >7nm it's literally less heat tho you are way too paranoid but sure
Aaron Wright
"Luckily" the pin that fell out landed on my desk. I don't see any other missing pins besides that one.
Goddamn I fucked up. Who knows when they will come back in stock again.
I have a 1700x its prob gonna be good for budger 1080p gaming for a while. Prob will get the 5700 or xt when customs come and if on sale.
Blake Foster
>ocing past 2000-x cpus are literally a meme. wouldn't future drivers increase that? >wanting non optimized cpus but i'm not the one shilling for early adoption user :^) >dare I say it?.... s-stop kvetching and just buy it goy kek >it's literally less heat tho latest benchmarks tend to show that 3000 are way too hot compared to 2000 >but muh cooling that's not the point >you are way too paranoid but sure that's when happen when you saved and waitfagged for 10 years and don't want to fuck up your only shot of the decade
I feel you, but at the same time I haven't gotten new hardware since early 2012, and I'm in need of an upgrade now.
Nicholas Cook
what motherboard/cpu combo has great power and thermal management? would like features like fine grain fan control including complete spin down and extremely low rpm speeds, and able to idle with minimal power consumption?
Caleb Campbell
How does one bend the pins? How does that even happen?
Dylan Thompson
lg.com/us/monitors/lg-24MP59G-P-gaming-monitor >no vesa or height adjustment damn it was almost perfect anything similar or do I just have to deal with this? specifically looking for 24" freesync 75Hz 1080p
Tyler Allen
In my case I legitimately don't know. I opened the box and it was already bent.
Jacob Peterson
forgot to add "IPS/VA only" woops
Hudson Baker
WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE 2080 SUPER REVIEWS AND INFO STUFF FUCK
Christian Clark
what features do you need and what CPU are you using, because iirc there's no itx x570 motherboards out there yet and the 5700 performs worse without a pcie 4.0 mobo
but do you want to buy a 300 dollar motherboard when the Asrock mobo coming out soon will have tb3 onboard, 1151 mounting and better VRM?
Camden Hill
2080 Super releases in about a week.
Brody Clark
I'm not advocating for one thing over another. Just posting to say something exists.
Grayson Myers
Pick any PWM fan. Most, if not all modern MOBOs have PWM fan controllers. Unless you buy some garbage chink shit that won't boot. Case and CPU fans usually don't have a 0 RPM mode unlike some PSUs and GPUs... but if you invest in BeQuiet or Noctua fans, you won't hear them over your system general noises. I ramped up the cheapest 140mm BeQuiet! fans, can't hear them even with my ears next to them. Literally everything else is noisier.
Jacob Sullivan
Is it better to evenly cover your CPU with thermal paste or to just do a single dollop in the center?
Austin Nelson
Yeah but usually there are reviews and shit before launch heck
