Many modern laptops have little plastic flaps for a fully functional ethernet port. E.g. pic related, you fold down the flap then you can stick a normal ethernet cable in there.
I'm a MacBook user but Apple fucking piss me off with the removal of ports and you would have thought they could solve this problem themselves. In fact they definitely can. They're just thieving cunts who want to charge you for an adapter instead.
