I'm pretty fucking sure google doesn't use gentoo's repositories.
They just use portage or whatever to build ChromeOS with their own repositories.

I think it's between Debian and Fedora.
Look at the sponsors on both is a pretty lengthy list and you see them everywhere when there is actual work getting done.
Fedora is good but basically its only sponsor is Red Hat, which doesn't need sponsors itself.
And is used by a lot of upstream developers outside of Red Hat.

I correct myself, Fedora is sponsored by some other companies.
Between them Dell so I would expect good support for its hardware
