why do people prefer mpv? it's garbage and lacks GUI
Adrian Cooper
because it's perfect and doesn't come with a useless ugly gui
Nathan Stewart
cross-platform/runs on everything, plays everything with no issues, supports tons of different acceleration methods and output styles (including output direct to framebuffer using drm in linux) that are easily called from terminal, and the gui is both minimal and functional
mpc is fine if you only run windows and want a more intuitive ui but there are plenty of reasons to use mpv
Landon Richardson
can mpv auto search subtitles with a press on a button? mpc and a few others can
Nicholas Williams
not that I know of, and I tend to hate when people give this repsonse, but like, that's a dumb feature and it's only acceptable to use while drunk/high watching something you torrented in terrible quality from a questionable source
mpv cant even read smi files generated by youtube. fucking shit at everything
Chase Cox
There was some reason to use x86 version over x64, but I can't remember what it was. madvr compatibility maybe, but it was long time ago. Is there any reason to not use x64 nowadays?
Jace Myers
I think it was performance with madvr. Can't remember either though.
Grayson Reyes
is there an A B looping feature yet in mpc-hc?
Josiah Sanchez
Because it works on loonix, and they're seething that many superior programs are Windows only.
Parker Reyes
>Is there any reason to not use x64 nowadays? Nope. madVR works fine and I've had no performance issues. I've been using it since 2014 or so.
There are various scripts for that in mpv, but I guess you are too dumb for customization.
James Hill
Thanks
Jordan Ramirez
Cool. Didn't ask.
Zachary Lewis
Does MPC or any other video player have a snowy picture filter to simulate a weak OTA analog signal? Preferably with some kind of customizable intensity. I know it's likely an uncommon desire but I hope something like this is out there.
