Youtube-dl

why google allow this? is it safe? cant they find out who is pirating stuff?

It's absolutely insignificant.

i don't think they care, normies would have no idea how to use it.

>why google allow this?
they don't want to anger people more than they have.
>is it safe?
check the code and see yourself.
>cant they find out who is pirating stuff?
it's not pirating. they themselves host it.
btw
youtube-dl -f 140
for m4a (aac) and
youtube-dl -f 251
for opus.

>why google allow this?
Because only an incel minority would use a CLI tool

>made by private person released into public domain
>Google (tries to) break it regularly
>why Google allow this

as i understand even if the program fakes a view, goglel could still see : look, this guy downloads videos faster than he can watch them

>cant they find out who is pirating
Yes they can and do. It is beyond trivial to see whether a request comes from ytdl or a human using a browser.

this

so, should i bother setting up a proxy?

for personal use, don't bother it's similar to viewing a video in the browser

>why google allow this?
Google doesn't run PyPI, it's not up to them to allow or deny it.

Only if you run into region locked videos.

can't spell INCEL without CLI

They probably don't like, but know they can't stop it, and so they try not to be metallica : napster lol.

Not such a big deal anyhow, since it's niche and many things can capture local data.

100% of those shitty YouTube downloader sites use youtube-dl, which is what normies use.

Normalfags don't download videos though.

they don't, that's why they break it and it has to be updated every so often

the negatives outweight the positives of doing so

fucking hell

doesn't work on my new Pc

speeds throttled on pcs it does work on

Why bother when jdownloader does the same job?

Can't unsee

There is literally nothing Google can do that youtube-dl can't be designed around so why would they waste time trying.

>speeds throttled on pcs it does work on

No it doesn't, what you see as "throttling" is just your connection reseting because you're downloading a ton of little chunks of the video, so before your speed can get above 30MB/s that chunk finished and it starts another which has a moment of ramp up time before that finishes quickly, etc.

all I'm saying is my real time downloads are way slower on it now , a 14MB file would be instant before but it'll take several minutes now

>pirating

just use

--external-downloader axel --external-downloader-args -n 10

providing you aren't on babby's first os.

im thinkin about doing it in a caffe or somthing, with a disposable laptop... or am i paranoid?

what the fuck is with you people. I've downloaded tons of videos with 4kvideodownloader and never got any issue? No I'm not saying to use that it's just what I use. I even DL patreon unlisted videos

Are you all fucking stupid or something? When you click the video, you're already downloading it into their embedded player. There is absolutely no difference between using youtube-dl, youtube userscripts that allow direct downloads, and playing it normally.

They could easily give youtube-dl users the same treatment tumblr did with the nsfw blog archivists but that would cause backlash so they don't

If it can be seen, it can be stored.
That goes for everything ever.
This will never change.

>youtube-dl -f 140
>for m4a (aac) and
>youtube-dl -f 251
>for opus.
Wow thank you dude. how long did it take you to figure that out? do you have a patreon?

>am i paranoid?
Yes.
All you're doing is downloading fucking videos.
It's not that big a deal.
Calm your damn tits.
Jesus.
