It took me so long to see there even was a speaker in that picture.

Sony WH-1000XM3, and they're extremely good and comfy, no matter what /hpg/ says.

been using pic related for the last 4 years or so, only thing I don't like is they get hot sometimes

How does it sound?

The best purchase I've made theses last years. Every other NC headphones I tried couldn't match it.

Attached: qc35.png (400x500, 151K)

The backloaded horn/ transmission line does add some coloration to the sound. Bit of a hollow honk, but not too prominent.
Not a lot of bass, top end falls off too, beaming is not that bad but they do need careful positioning.
Placed against a wall, listening near field a lot of joy can be had though. Great midrange, powerful, not harsh sounding.

beoplay h9i is pretty gud also

well the review says bose is the better noise canceller altho the beoplay has better music quality

>Yggdrasil DAC
>EHHA tube amplifier
>headphone -> Sennheiser HD800S

Next plan will be to get 2x Genelec 8030a-s for surround and replace the EHHA tube with Freya for more neutral speaker output

Klipsch R15M's through sony str-de535 surround receiver, and a JVC TD w95.
Sub is some huge passive sub I found at good will. Sounds alright, but I might replace it with a klipsch r-10sw if I ever have 250$ to burn.
Sub amp is a dayton audio apa150.

Pretty standard entry level stuff, my next hifi purchase is a nicer stereo receiver or integrated amp, like a cambridge audio sr20, or a Yamaha natural sound as-301, and maybe a cooler looking tape deck with vu meters and shit.

what are open baffle speakers like?

Focal Arias I just picked up on Audiogon. They beat the shit out of out of the LS50s in clarity.

You have some quite exotic and quality gear.

honestly headphones excluded i stumbled upon some articles, reviews from people i know about those by a chance.

Sennheiser HD800 (through HDVD800)
Denon D7200 (through UA Apollo Twin)
DT770 80ohm (instruments)
Bose QC35 II
Genelec 8330A SAM (through UA Apollo Twin)
Polk S60E x2, S35CE, S50 x2 (through Onkyo TX-RZ830)

Attached: hifit.jpg (1445x1080, 251K)

2bh everything beats the LS50. It's just an overhyped speaker.

I think it got overexposed. Not everyone likes the KEF sound. It's a bit grating in the high end for me.

How would you compare the detail resolution of your HD800s to the Polk speakers?

The polks for AV use, good for music too but for example the equally priced Klipsch range beats it. The HD800 is entirely different to the speakers, much more clear but they lack the bass that you get with big speakers. Overall the HD800S is the one I prefer over the HD800.

i own them and for work and travel, i think they're pretty unbeatable.

comfy, god-tier anc, sound isn't bad, case is flat (good for backpacks), etc

Thanks. I had been wondering if the Polks were a good all around performer.

They are for their size. I used to have S50's in the front but through work I got to buy 60E's for $70 so I upgraded, but there isn't that much difference. I have them bi-amped so there is enough power. I went for the smallest S50 for the size originally and I still maintain that for their price they are the best small tower speakers. The Klipsch R-820F is similarly priced but much bigger and better looking, but it takes up so much space.

I want to try these but they look too expensive and I don't want to be disappointed.

Infinity Sterling SS-2001's that I recently refoamed through a NEC AVR-700 receiver that I found at a flea market. Sub is some junky KLH passive sub running from the rear speaker outs from the receiver. I found it at goodwill for like a buck when I was 16 and never bothered to upgrade it.
CD player is a JVC XL-V95, which is an amazing unit, especially for what I got it for.
Tape deck is a TD-W118. It didn't sound too great when I got it but I cleaned the pinchrollers and adjusted the azimuth and it really cleaned up well.
Not pictured are my turntables, a JVC LA-11 and a Dual CS 1258.

I also have a pair of Micca MB42Xs that I'm trying to think of a way to incorporate into my setup.

I dig it

Forgot picture because I'm retarded

Rate my newest purchase lads. Got them for $150 each

Good deal. I was looking at one of these to put in my garage to replace the aging Sony radio/boombox I have in there now.

I have both a One and Three. If you don't need portability the Three is the superior unit. More plugins, more bass, and doesn't distort at high volumes

how does it sound for jazz or rock

Plays perfectly fine and dandy for dad rock. I don't listen to any real jazz though

mate i bought one of these off ebay, it sounds great for a bluetooth speaker. However it has a problem i cant seem to sort out.

The bluetooth immediately disconnects no matter what IF the power cable is plugged in.

So in order to use it i have to unplug the power cable and then the bluetooth connects and stays connected perfectly. however when i left it on standby mode after doing that the battery was dead when i tried to play something the next day.

so i have to unplug, connect, listen, then plug the power back in when finished. which is kind of a pain in the ass

If you just flick the switch it goes into standby. If you hold the switch for 3 seconds while on it actually shuts it off

okay thanks, i will try that. Any idea what could be wrong with the bluetooth and power cable?

Just tried it on mine. Bluetooth on and playing music. Plugged in the power cord and it kept playing

>They say Bryston is more dry and not as musical as Krell.
Who are they and what do they mean? Never trust audiophiles, they don't know shit about sound. Audiophiles think that low distortion sounds "sterile".
Audiophiles are fools that pays a lot of money for bad equipment because some old dude under one circumstance precived the sound a certain way and then went on to sperg about it on the internet. They completley ignore all the variables when they "test" things and then use it as a rule of thumb, some idiots even think that a product will sound a certian way just because it was made in a certain country.
