It's shit, I returned it.

Pretty much any laptop can run linux you brainlet, and no.

modern laptops (last couple of years) mostly do not work out of the box and require tinkering, including thinkpads. xps and matebooks seem to be the exception
what about it?

wait for coreboot 12nm

>IPS screen not bright enough on battery
>Battery last like 6-7 hours max
>heating a lot, noisy fan
>built like a Mac, meaning good luck to repair it if you fucked up something

I need a new laptop on monday

The only tinkering they require is disabling secure boot and in some cases using legacy instead of uefi. That's it. It's not hard.

>surface laptop 2 keyboard doesn't work until kernel + patch installed
only other decent option left is the macbook pro which does work well

thanks user I appreciate it

your bitchass would be best sitting on my lap right now

that laptop is fucking trash

Thinnpad BTFO

suggest one that is in stores now (2018/2019) then
>good battery
>good (bright) display
>good keyboard
>good sound
>good trackpad
>no nvidia

>including thinkpads
Lol no, openSUSE even managed to install keys on the TPM module and use secure boot on my X1.
>arch

Microsoft Surface book 2.

I don't know because I'm not a consumerist bugman who's constantly looking at new computers
I just know that laptop is fucking shit

>kernel issues are distro specific
hello retard
laptop not 2 in 1 detatchable thing. surface laptop 2 is a consideration but has the worst IO out there atm

consider coil whine / fan noise

look up matebook faults. its shit, really shit.
this is so wrong, so many modern laptops have such a bizzare fucked up pajeet implementation of eufi that it might as well be impossible to run linux on them without making mods to the install media or bios both

x270, you may have to change the screen and the sound is trash no matter what.

>distros can't supply pre-patched kernels

Only HP has this problem with their custom implementations, Dell even sells laptops with linux.

Buy a MacBook, works straight out of the box

until the keyboard dies. the 2019 model was listed on their repair program the day it dropped lmao that's how shit it still is

>x270
I'm not buying a laptop to void the warranty and do a diy job to make it acceptable. its also not available. fuck off
>pre-patched kernels
okay so can you name a distro that does?

>okay so can you name a distro that does?
Literally any bleeding edge distro like tumbleweed.
>its also not available. fuck off
Just don't get an x280, the battery is trash just like in any other notebook made in 2018/2019.

This
Chinkshits never worth it

Arch is bleeding edge.

Arch is bleeding shit.

I don't think you understand. the kernel patches were made by a couple of guys on github and are not part of the official stream

What patches are you even talking about, there are only 3 patches on the link to the arch wiki posted in this thread and all of them have already been committed to the kernel.
Check linux/drivers/input/mouse/synaptics.c on github.

I apologise it seems i have been a moron

This is free software son, patches get applied faster than what the documentation can keep up with, sometimes.

If you want the T-series I would go for the T480, since I Lenovo chinked the T490. No 2.5" bay, 1 ram slot and removing the external battery. Only nice thing is the displays

unfortunately as of today it is no longer available here

>Hueoyvey
Just leave.

>MacBook
